Objective: To detect carotid pulse wave velocity in prehypertensive patients and hypertensive patients by ultrafast pulse wave velocity(UFPWV)technique and to discuss carotid atherosclerosis in early detection and quantitative assessment of prehypertensive and hypertensive patients.Clinical application value of arterial elasticity changes.Methods: A total of 50 subjects from the outpatient medical examination and income hospital of Hebei Provincial People’s Hospital from April 20 to 2018 were selected.The subjects were divided into prehypertension(Prehypertension,Pre-HT)group according to blood pressure level.30 patients in the High Blood Pressure HBP group were enrolled in the study.32 healthy volunteers in the same period were included in the study as the normal control NC group.Among them,11 males(55.0%),9 females(45.0%),23-71 years old,average age 46.10±10.91 years old,16 males(53.3%)and 14 females in the hypertension group.(46.7%),aged 22-74 years,mean age 46.23±12.34 years old,15 males(46.9%)in normal control group,17 females(53.1%),aged 22-64 years,mean age 45.72±11.18 year old.Each group excluded diseases such as atherosclerotic plaque,cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,endocrine and metabolic diseases,which may cause changes in blood vessel elasticity and severe organic diseases.Clinical data such as age,gender,body mass index(BMI),smoking history,blood pressure,fasting blood glucose(FPG),and low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C)were collected and recorded.After the grouping,the French Acoustic Supersonic Imagine Aixplorer color Doppler ultrasound system was equipped with UFPWV technology.The common physician two-dimensional ultrasound was used to measure the intima-media thickness(IMT)of the common carotid artery,and UFPWV technology was used to collect all the subjects.The common carotid artery elasticity index includes the pulse wave velocity(BSPWV)at the beginning of the systole and the pulse wave velocity(ES-PWV)at the end of the systole.Statistical data were analyzed by SPSS 21 software package.P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:1.There were no significant differences in the left and right common carotid arteries BS-PWV,ES-PWV and IMT between the NC group,the PreHT group and the HBP group(P>0.05).2.The carotid elasticity parameters BS-PWV and ES-PWV in the NC group,Pre-HT group and HBP group were statistically significant(P<0.05),among which HBP group>NC group,Pre-HT group>NC group,HBP group>Pre-HT group;3.The difference of IMT measurement between NC group and HBP group,Pre-HT group and HP group was statistically significant(P<0.05),HP group>NC group,HP group>Pre-HT group;There was no significant difference between the group and the prehypertension group(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The carotid elasticity parameters BS-PWV and ES-PWV increased in the NC group,Pre-HT group and HBP group,indicating that elevated blood pressure can cause a certain degree of arterial function damage,and the higher the blood pressure level,the more serious the injury.2.The pre-hypertension group has a decline in the elastic function of the common carotid artery,which should be taken seriously.3.Arterial function changes earlier than structural changes.UFPWV technology can capture changes in arterial elasticity before IMT has been thickened,which can be used as a simple and non-invasive examination for quantitative assessment of arterial elasticity in patients with elevated blood pressure.
