Purpose:To observe the effect of ultrasound-guided needle knife release combined with median nerve block on carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS).Method:From June 2017 to February 2019,28 patients(33 wrists)with carpal tunnel syndrome were selected from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine,Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, including 8 males and 20 females aged35-56 years. All patients underwent ultrasound-guided needle knife release combined with median nerve block.Boston carpal tunnel questionnaire(BCTQ),visual analogue scale(VAS),wrist median nerve motor latency(DML),sensory conduction velocity(SCV),and median nerve swollen cross-sectional area(CSA)were compared before and after treatment to evaluate the efficacy.Adverse reactions and complications were recorded.Counting data were compared by paired t-test,and measurement data were expressed by x±s,with P < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.Result:1、In this study,28 patients had no adverse reactions such as nerve or blood vessel injury during the treatment. After one month follow-up,23 cases were completely relieved while 5 cases remained partial finger numbness symptoms. No complications occurred in all patients.2、After treatment, the symptom severity score(SSS)and functional status score(FSS)in BCTQ score were significantly decreased(p < 0.001),the VAS was significantly decreased(p < 0.001),the neuroelectrophysiological parameters DML was significantly decreased(p < 0.001),the SCV was significantly faster(p < 0.001),and the CSA was significantly decreased(p < 0.001).Conclusion:Ultrasound-guided needle-knife release combined with median nerve block can significantly improve the hand symptoms and functions of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, improve the cure rate, and is safe, efficient, with fewer complications. It isfeasible and worth popularizing in clinical practice.
