| Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of modified Chaihu Shugan Decoction combined with sodium valproate in the treatment of liver stagnation and phlegm-Fire Syndrome epilepsy. Methods: 64 patients, who diagnosed liver stagnation and phlegm-fire Syndrome epileptic with seizures of generalized tonic clonic, were collected from the outpatient and inpatient the Encephalopathy Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine from May 1,2017 to November 30,2018.The patients were randomly divided into treatment group(31 cases)and control group(33 cases). The control group was treated with sodium valproate alone, while the treatment group was treated with modified Chaihu Shugan Decoction combined sodium valproate. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. The seizure frequency, duration, severity,EEG,quality of life and curative effect of TCM syndromes were compared between the two groups before and after treatment and the clinical efficacy of modified Chaihu Shugan Decoction combined with sodium valproate was evaluated.Results:(1)Comparison with seizure frequency:The frequency of weekly seizures in both groups was lower than those before treatment(P < 0.05),but the frequency of weekly seizures in treatment group was most lower(P < 0.05).At the same time, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 90.3% and that of the control group was 75.8%(P < 0.05).(2)Comparison with epileptic seizure duration:The duration of seizures in both groups was shorter than those before treatment(P < 0.05),but the duration of seizures in the treatment group was most shorter(P < 0.05).(3)Comparison with seizure severity score(NHS3):After treatment, the scores of NHS3 in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P < 0.05),but the scores in the treatment group were most lower(P < 0.05).(4)Comparisons with EEG improvement:The improvement of EEG in treatment group was better than that in control group(P < 0.05).(5)Comparisons with quality of life in epilepsy patients:The total scores of comprehensive quality of life, seizure anxiety, mood, energy or fatigue, cognitive function, drug influence, social function/activity and general sense of health in the two groups were higher than those in the precondition(P < 0.05),but the total scores in the treatment group were most higher(P < 0.05).(6)Comparison with the curative effect of TCM syndromes:The effective rate was 93.55% in the treatment group and 84.85% in the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: The modified Chaihu Shugan Decoction combined with sodium valproate in the treatment of epilepsy of liver depression with phlegm-fire type can reduce the frequency of epilepsy, shorten the duration of epilepsy, improve the severity of epilepsy, improve the abnormal situation of electroencephalogram, improve the quality of life of epilepsy patients, and improve the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms. It has considerable clinical efficacy. |
