Objective To study the relationship between three factors including thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),serum free triiodothyroid acid(FT3),serum free thyroxine(FT4)with carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT)in Dalian thyroid function normal population.Methods Based on the REACTION study initiated by the Chinese medical association,10,207 community residents aged more than 40 years who participated in the survey from August 2011 to December 2011 were selected.According to the guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases in China issued by the endocrinology branch of the Chinese medical association in 2007,FT3:2.63-5.70pmol/L was used in the normal range of thyroid function.FT4:9.01-19.04pmol/L;TSH: 0.35-4.94 mu IU/m L;In addition,tpoab-negative subjects were selected as the subjects for inclusion,and patients with a history of tumor,severe liver and kidney function impairment and data loss were excluded.A total of 5,373 eligible subjects were included.According to the levels of TSH,FT3 and FT4,the group was divided into four groups: T1,T2,T3 and T4.Groups Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4;Q1,q2,q3,and q4.Age was recorded.Height,weight,systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)and pulse rate were measured.Body mass index(BMI),mean systolic blood pressure(MSBP),mean diastolic blood pressure(MDBP)and average heart rate were calculated.Fasting plasma glucose(fasting plasma glucose,FPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(glycated hemoglobin,Hb A1C), fasting insulin,fasting insulin and FINS),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(high density lipoprotein cholesterol,Hdl-c,low density lipoprotein cholesterol(ldl-c),total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),blood uric acid(UA),2-hour plasma glucose(2h PG),TSH,FT3,FT4,CIMT,The differences of CIMT value and CIMT thickening incidence among each group were compared,and the relationship between TSH,FT3,FT4 and CIMT thickening was analyzed.Results1.A total of 5,373 cases were enrolled in the baseline data analysis of this study,among which 2,874 cases had CIMT thickening,and the current incidence rate was53.49%.According to the grouping of TSH levels,the CIMT thickening rates of T1,T2,T3 and T4 groups were 55.32%,54.21%,54.81% and 56.01%,respectively.There was no statistical difference between T1,T2,T3 and T4 groups.According to FT3 level grouping,Q1 and Q2,Q3 and Q4 CIMT group thickening rate were54.96%,53.73%,55.61% and 54.96% respectively,in addition to the Q1,Q2,Q3 comparative differences had no statistical significance between groups,and compare the differences between three and Q4 group had statistical significance(Q4 and Q1 and Q2 to Q4,Q3 and Q4 group χ2 = 6.953,P = 0.008,χ2 = 3.999,P =0.046,χ2 = 8.880,P = 0.003).According to FT4 groups,the thickening rates of CIMT in q1,q2,q3 and q4 groups were 52.08%,51.90%,54.28% and 55.71%,respectively.There was no statistical difference between q1,q2,q3 and q4 groups.2.Spearman correlation analysis showed that CIMT was positively correlated with average height and average weight(r = 0.027,r = 0.028,P < 0.05),and negatively correlated with FT3(r =-0.028,P < 0.05).3.Binary Logistic regression analysis was performed on the enrolled population,with CIMT thickening as the dependent variable,average height,average weight and FT3 as the independent variables.The final results showed that for each additional standard deviation of FT3 in the investigated population,the risk of thickening of CIMT decreased by 15.6%(OR = 0.844,95%CI: 0.735-0.968,P <0.05).After further adjustment for mean height and mean weight,the risk of CIMT decreased by 16.3%(OR = 0.837,95%CI: 0.728-0.962,P < 0.05)for each standard deviation increase in FT3.Conclusions1.There was a negative correlation between FT3 level and the incidence rate of thickening CIMT.2.The incidence of thickening in CIMT was not related to the changes in TSH and FT4 levels.
