Objective:To explore the possible risk factors of gastric xanthoma.Method:From January 2017 to April 2018,120 hospitalized patients with xanthoma were examined by gastroscopy and biopsy from the first affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were included as the study subjects. At the same time,100 inpatients without xanthoma were randomly selected as control group.Blood glucose, blood lipids, body mass index,Helicobacter pylori infection, bile reflux, atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, ulcers, polyps, chronic inflammation and gastric cancer were compared between the two groups.SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis, and t test was used for measurement data conforming to normal distribution and homogeneity of variance,t’test was used for data with different variances,χ~2 test was used for counting data, and multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted for indicators with single factor comparison.P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results:Univariate analysis showed that the low density lipoprotein and glycosylated hemoglobin levels in xanthoma were higher than those in non-xanthoma group. The incidence of H.pylori infection rate, chronic inflammation of gastric mucosa, gastric mucosa atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, polyp of stomach and gastric cancer are higher than non-xanthoma.Multivariate logistic regression analysis shows that low density lipoprotein(OR=2.76,95%CI:0.94-8.11,P<0.05),H.pylori infection rate(OR=4.23,95%CI:2.00-8.98,P<0.01),chronic inflammation of gastric mucosa(OR=9.72,95%CI:3.97-23.78,P<0.01),gastriccancer(OR=23.66,95%CI:2.56-218.58,P<0.05)are associated with gastric xanthoma, which are independent risk factors of gastric xanthoma. Conclusion:High levels of low density lipoprotein, infection rate of Helicobacter pylori and chronic inflammation of gastric mucosa are independent risk factors of gastric xanthoma.Xanthoma is significantly associated with the occurrence of gastric cancer.
