Objective: To observe the improvement of inspiratory muscle training on the dysfunction and overall status of patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain. Methods: Sixty patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into control group and experimental group,30 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated only with computerized intermediate-frequency therapy, and those patients in the experimental group were given inspiratory muscle training on the basis of Computerized intermediate-frequency therapy.Inspiratory muscle training is performed with Power Breathe K5.All patients received prescribed treatment 5 days a week for 4 weeks. The inspiratory muscle strength was measured by Power Breathe K5,and the relative indexes of inspiratory muscle strength were observed before and after treatment. At the same time, the Oswestry Disability Index Questionnaire(ODI)and Health Survey Profile(SF-36)were used to assess the patients' dysfunction and general health before and after treatment. The patients were followed up 2 months after the end of treatment and the recurrence was recorded. Results: After treatment, the inspiratory muscle strength index, inspiratory peak velocity and volume of the experimental group were significantly improved(P<0.05),while inspiratory muscle strength of the control group was not significantly changed(P>0.05).The difference between the two groups is statistically significant(P<0.05).ODI score decreased significantly in both groups(P<0.05),the experimental group decreased more significantly(P<0.05).SF-36 score significantly increased in both groups(P <0.05),the experimental group increased more significantly(P<0.05).After 2 months,8 cases recurred in the control group and 3 cases in the experimental group.the recurrence rate of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group. Conclusion: Inspiratory muscle training can significantly improve inspiratory muscle strength, the dysfunction, the ability of social participation and self-feeling of patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain, and can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of nonspecific low back pain.
