Objects:To investigate the influencing factors of mental health in patients with deviation of nasal septum,and explore the relationship between mental health,social support and coping style of the patients with deviation of nasal septum.Methods:This study used a convenient sampling method.From January to December 2017,we interviewed 139 patients diagnosed with nasal septum deviation which from otolaryngology head and neck surgery at a tertiary hospital.The questionnaire survey was conducted on site.The questionnaire consists of four parts: self-made general basic information questionnaire,90 symptom checklist(SCL-90),social support rating scale(SSRS)and simple coping strategy questionnaire(SCSQ).SPSS17.0 software was used for statistical description,t test,analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis and Logistic regression analysis.Results:1.The mean score of SCL-90 of patients with deviation of nasal septum was(149.62±34.06),which was higher than that of the Chinese norm.In addition to psychoticism,scores in somatization,obsession,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety,hostility,terror and paranoia were higher than the Chinese norm.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The total average scores of SCL-90 of different gender,living place,marital status,age,education level,occupation,family monthly income and payment method were different,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that the factors of mental health problems happened have significantly factors mainly include: the age,the occupation,and the marital status.3.The mean score of social support for patients with deviated septum was(43.64±4.78),and the scores of each dimension were subjective support(25.65±2.43),objective support(10.24±2.12),and support availability(7.75±2.06).In this study,the mean scores of patients with nasal septum deviation in the mental health disorder group were significantly lower than those in the normal group in terms of scores of total social support,subjective support,objective support and support availability(P<0.05).The mean scores of the positive and negative coping dimensions of patients were(17.72±2.12)and(12.95±2.06).The mean score of positive coping dimension of the normal group was significantly higher than that of the mental health disorder group.The mean score of negative coping dimension of the normal group was significantly lower than that of the mental health disorder group.And all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The Logistic Regression analysis showed that age,occupation,total social support and positive coping were important factors affected the mental health of patients with nasal septum deviation.4.The mean score of SCL-90 of patients with deviation of nasal septum was negatively correlated with scores of total social support and its dimensions,and was negatively correlated with positive coping and positively correlated with negative coping(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The mental health level of patients with deviation of nasal septum was generally lower.2.The level of mental health of patients with deviation of nasal septum was affected by a combination of factors,including the patient’s age,occupation,social support and positive coping.3.There was a correlation between social support,coping styles and the occurrence of mental health problems in patients with deviation of nasal septum.Namely,more social support,more positive coping patients less mental disorders,while low levels of social support,less positive coping,more negative coping patients more prone to mental disorders.
