Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disease that accompanies with social obstacles, narrow interests and repeated stereotypes. In recent years, the number of autistic patients has increased at an alarming rate, posing a heavy burden on themselves, their families and society. At present, the cause of autism is still not clear, there is no effective drug treatment for it.This condition has aroused great concern and attention from all walks of life and relevant researchers. This article aims to study the EEG features of children with autism,to explore the abnormal brain regions of autistic children, and to study whether transcranial direct current stimulation is an effective mean of improving the symptoms of autism.Twenty-five(4~8 years old)autistic children and 25(4~8 years old)healthy children were used as research objects to analyze the resting state EEG signals of children with autism. This paper analyzes the data from the characteristics of EEG signals and brain region correlation characteristics. The characteristics of EEG signals is analyzed from the time-frequency domain and non-linear aspects, including wavelet transform, empirical mode decomposition and information entropy.Brain region correlation mainly uses coherence to analyze the synchronic characteristics between the two channels.Firstly, four fundamental rhythms of delta, theta, alpha and beta were extracted from 16 channels of forehead lobe, left temporal lobe, central area, right temporal lobe and occipital area of autistic children and healthy children.Four fundamental rhythms were decomposed by EMD decomposition to obtain the intrinsic modal functions and the characteristics of sorting entropy, wavelet entropy, sampling entropy and coherence. Then the study statistically analyze the difference in brain electricity between autistic children and healthy children and obtain abnormal brain areas in autistic children.Finally,20 children with autism were selected for the treatment of anomalous brain regions and behavioral characteristics by transcranial direct current stimulation, and 20 age and sex-matched children with autism were selected as controls to investigate the effect of neuromodulation physical intervention on autism. The results showed that the energetic characteristics of the intrinsic modal functions of the delta, theta, alpha, and beta rhythm waves in children with autism were significantly different in the frontal and temporal regions compared to healthy children, and the delta rhythm waves have significant differences in the whole brain region. The wavelet entropy and sample entropy of whole brain regions in children with autism were lower than that of the healthy children.Besides, the brain function connectivity of the children with autism between each brain area was lower than that of the healthy children. After neuro-modulation intervention, the wavelet entropy, sample entropy and the coherence of EEGs in children with autism have increased. On the contrary, the behavioral scores has decreased, which made the language, sensory and communication abilities were greatly improved.Studies have shown that transcranial direct current stimulation can be an effective intervention to treat autism. |
