Objective: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the digestive tract. In recent years, the morbidity and mortality of colorectal cancer have been increasing.Surgical treatment is still the most effective treatment.Diarrhea is a well-recognized post-operative complication of colorectal cancer surgery. The relaxation of surgical indications, the progress of clinical radical surgery, the wide application of new antibiotics in clinic, and the extensive development of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The incidence of diarrhea after colorectal cancer was significantly increased.Severe complications with diarrhea as the main clinical manifestation after operation are common. In order to reduce the incidence and harm of refractory diarrhea,we conducted a prospective single-institution observational study to describe the clinical characteristics of diarrheal episodes, and to evaluate the risk factors associated with the occurrence of acute diarrhea after colorectal cancer surgery. To reduce or avoid the occurrence of persistent diarrhea after operation of gastrointestinal cancer,it provides clinical guidance and reference for the diagnosis and treatment of the complication of persistent diarrhea after colorectal cancer. Methods: The clinical data of 305 patients with histologic documentation of cancer of the colorectal who underwent surgery from 2012 to 2015 were analyzed.Upon hospital admission, the hemoglobin concentration, serum tumor marker levels, and the ratio of cocci and bacilli were determined. The post-operative carminative time, the time for an indwelling stomach tube, the types and time of antibiotics, the pathological TNM staging and the duration of fever(? 38°C)were recorded.SPSS 24 software was used to analyze the related data, and c2 test was used to compare the statistical significance of the incidence of diarrhea between the two groups. The independent t test was performed to evaluate the statistical significance of the differences between groups.95% confidence interval was used for statistical analysis(P < 0.05)is thought to have statistical significance. Results: The occurrence of diarrhea was correlated with a prolonged duration of fever(P = 0.01).There was statistically significant between the patients with postoperative diarrhea and the types of antibiotics(P=0.021).Based on analysis, the ratio of cocci and bacilli was a factor that predicted acute diarrhea after colorectal cancer resection(odds ratio [OR]=1.89;P=0.027;95%CI,1.073-3.323).Conclusions: The study indicates a significant correlation between acute diarrhea after colorectal cancer resection and the duration of fever and the types of antibiotics. The abnormal(1:10)results associated with the ratio of cocci and bacilli are an important early warning sign of imminent diarrhea.Early prevention and intervention must be carried out in time for late clinical staging.
