Objective: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD)is a strong reaction to a person’s experience or witness of an accident or severe trauma that can or may cause the death of one’s own or other persons or severe physical injury.Considering the turbulence in the world,social conflict,natural disasters and other emergencies,it is difficult to avoid the psychological stressors brought to mankind.PTSD negatively influences a patient’s role in the society and family life,and can cause significant functional disability.Thus,the early diagnosis and treatment of PTSD is of great importance.As for treatment of PTSD,drug therapy,cognitive behavioral therapy,and exposure therapy have been identified as the preferred treatment guidelines in most clinical studies.This thesis discusses the application effect of NaiKan Cognitive Therapy(NCT)for PTSD patients caused by 8.12 Tianjin Port explosion and the efficacy to improve the clinical symptoms,social function and quality of life of PTSD patients.Method: 60 qualified patients with PTSD caused by 8.12 Tianjin Port Explosion are selected as the study subjects.These subjects are all diagnosed according to DSM-IV of the American psychiatric diagnosis standard.All subjects are with junior high school education background or above,and have no serious psychiatric and neurological diseases.If relevant medicine was taken,it has been discontinued in May before treatment or the dose has stabilized.These 60 subjects are informed of the treatment and signed informed consent form.In accordance to random number table all 60 subjects are randomly divided into research group and control group,30 subjects for each group.All patients are treated with anti-anxiety medication by sertraline(50mg,QD).In addition to taking drugs,the research group is also treated with NCT for successive 4 weeks,3 hours per day.The control group is treated with recreation therapy for the same period.All patients are assessed respectively at pre-and post-treatment(4 weeks)by 2 attending physicians with PTSD Symptom Scale Interview(PSS-I),Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA),MOS Item Short From Health Survey(SF-36),Clinical Global Impression(CGI).The Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Self-rating Scale(PTSD-SS)and Self-report Symptom Inventory(SCL-90)are completed by the patients themselves.Scales of basic conditions are completed by patients’ doctors in charge in accordance with patient’s actual situation.Results: Results: 60 PTSD patients have completed the study.Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in the score of PTSD Symptom Scale Interview(PSS-I)from the two groups of patients,indicating that PTSD patient’s symptoms improved obviously.Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in the comparison between scores from research group and control group at pre-and post-treatment,indicating that NCT has significantly improved the anxiety symptoms caused by PTSD and the effect is superior to the control group.Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in all factors of Quality of Life Scale from the research group at pre-and post-treatment.The control group had no significant improvement(P>0.05)in energy and emotional function.Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in all factors by comparison of the two groups of patients.NCT has significant efficacy on improvement of patient’s physiological function,physiological role,restoration of social function and mental health.After NCT treatment,PTSD patient’s disease severity decreased gradually and symptoms improved significantly(P<0.01).In comparison,the effect of research group is superior to that of control group(P<0.05).Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in all factors of SCL-90 at pre-and post-treatment.indicating that NCT has significant efficacy on improvement of patient’s various relevant symptoms,superior to that of control group.Significant differences(P<0.01)are found in all factors of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Self-rating Scale(PTSD-SS)from the two groups,and In comparison,the effect of research group is superior to that of control group(P<0.01),indicating that NCT has significant efficacy on Reactive Numb Symptoms,Repeated Onset of Symptoms,and Hyperarousal Symptoms.Patient’s social function restored.Patients’ social function restored.Conclusion: Naikan Cognitive Therapy has significant efficacy on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder,which can effectively alleviate the symptoms,improve patients’ quality of life,and restore patients’ social function.1.NCT can significantly reduce PTSD patients’ level of anxiety;2.NCT can significantly improve PTSD patients’ anxiety symptoms and physical symptoms;3.NCT can significantly improve PTSD patients’ quality of life;4.As a new method ofpsychological therapy,NCT has a good application prospect for the treatment of PTSD.
