| ObjectiveTo assess the impact of antiviral therapy on the survival rate of patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after radical resection and to investigate the other factors assositied with the survival rate.MethodsTotal of 632 patients diagnosed as HBV related HCC between January 2010 and December 2012 in Jiangsu Province Hospital, the First Affiliated of Nanjing Medical Uniiversity were analyzed, retrospectively.Patients were divided into three groups according to whether nucleoside analogues(NAs)was administered before or after operation. The clinical data of these patients were collected and followed up.Theoverall survival rate and relative factors affecting survival rate were compared.ResultsA total of 215 cases conforming to the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enlisted, among whom there were 180 cases(83.7%)were males and 45 cases(16.3%)females,with an average age of 52±11y and 50±8y.Patients of 87 cases had never received pre-and-post-operative NAs treatments patients of the 77 cases began receiving NAs treatments, patients of 51 cases who had consecutively received the pre-and-post-operative NAs treatments. For patients who had consecutively received NAs treatments, their overall survival rates were markedly higher than those of the patients who had not received the pre-and-post-operative NAs treatments(P=0.036).For those patients who began to receive the post-operative NAs treatments, their overall survival rates were also higher than those of the patients who had not received the pre-and-post-operative NAs treatments(P=0.044).There were no significant variations between the survival rates of the patients who consecutively received the pre-and-post-operative NAs treatments and the patients who began to receive the post-operative NAs treatments(P=0.44).Males,the late HCC phases, failure to receive NAs treatments, low pre-operative ALB level and pre-operative HBV DNA≥10~4 copies/ml were the independent risk factors of the patients’overall survival ratesConclusionsAntiviral therapy could improve the overall survival rates of HBV related HCC patients. For patients who had been diagnosed with HBV related HCC and have not undergone antiviral therapy, they could still benefit from the post-operative anti-viral treatments.Males, late HCC phases(Ⅰb、Ⅱa、Ⅱb、Ⅲa),failure to receive post-operative NAs treatments, low pre-operative ALB level, and pre-operative HBV DNA≥10~4 copies/ml were the independent risk factors of the patients’overall survival rates. |
