Comparative Study On Extraction Of The Mandibular Third Molar Germs And Impacted Mandibular Third Molar

Objective: In order to prevent the recurrence the anterior arch crowding probably resulting from the eruption of the third molar germ and ensure the effectiveness of orthodontic treatment in patients with mandibular third molars,orthodontists advocate the prophylatic removal of the mandibular impacted third molars or the third molar tooth germ.This article aims to compare the operation time,postoperative pain,swelling,and complications between removal of the mandibular third molar tooth germ and extraction of the mature mandibular impacted third molar and discuss the feasibility of prophylatic removal of the third molar tooth germ.Methods: From patients with early orthodontic treatment in our department outpatient 2016-2017,30 cases of those who need to remove mandibular wisdom tooth germ were randomly selected in experimental group,while 30 cases of adult complete boneambush-impacted mandibular third molar were selected as a control group.Anti-pin high-speed turbine + Long dental bur were applied to both groups and the time required for removal,3h postoperative pain,postoperative swelling degree,postoperative abnormal bleeding,temporomandibular joint pain,lower lip numbness,dry socket,adjacent teeth injury and other complications of two groups are compared based on statistical analysis.Results: Compared to the control group,the removal of mandibular third molar tooth germ took less time with the relatively easer operation and the lighter 3h postoperative pain in the mandibular area,slighter swelling degree after 1d,and the less incidence of complications after 1d in experimental group.Conclusion: Compared to the removal of the mature mandibular third molar,early prophylactic removal of the third molar,specifically the removal of the tooth germ,is easer to be performed and takes less time with less complications and quick recovery.
