ObjectiveTo design psychological and social adaptive scale are suitable for Chinese patients suffering from disease of Parkinson and provide a effective evaluation tool to assess the psychological and social adaptive ability of people with Parkinson diseases.MethodFirst, propose the idea about the framework of the scale on the basis of identifying the concept of Parkinson sufferer's psychological and social adaptive ability. Then, set up the item pool by integrating the literature reviews.Meanwhile, combine the semi-structured interview of Parkinson sufferer with related consultations of medical and nursing experts specialized in the treatment of Parkinson disease to design the initial psychological and social adaptive scale for people with Parkinson diseases. To ensure easy sampling, the author made a survey of 427 patients from The First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, including outpatients and inpatients who had been diagnosed as Parkinson sufferers. Then, the author screened the initial items with the help of item-total correlation coefficients, dispersion degree, exploratory factor analysis and content validity ratio to develop the final scale and evaluate its reliability and validity.Cronbach's ? coefficient and test-retest reliability were considered as the evaluation indicators for the reliability while validity was evaluated from the perspectives of content validity, face validity,criterion-related validity, structure validity, and discrimination validity.ResultsThe initial scale has 6 dimensions, including 43 items: anxiety/depression(item 1-7),self-respect(item 8-13),self-attitude towards life((item 14-20),self-acceptance(item 21-26),self-efficiency(item 27-33)and social support(item 34-43).After screening, item 10,11,16,21,22,27,28,29,38,40,43 were deleted, finally forming a scale containing 32 items.Scale reliability includes(1)Internal consistency reliability: Cronbach's ? coefficient for the general scale is 0.938 and for the six dimensions is within 0.666 to 0.835;(2)Test-retest reliability: test-retest reliability for for the general scale is 0.99 while for the six dimensions is within 0.881 to 0.995,P<0.01.Scale validity includes(1)Face validity and content validity: screen and revise items of the scale.Items can accurately express required contents. The content validity index(CVI)for all the items is within 0.8 to 1.0(0.97±0.21);(2)Structure validity: the comparative fit index of the scale is 0.664 and the value of 2 is 2936.251(P < 0.01).(3)Criterion-related validity: the related Pearson coefficients between psychological and social adaptive scale and self-rating anxiety scale, general self-efficacy scale, and self-acceptance scale are respectively 0.711,0.499 and 0.563,P<0.01.(4)Discrimination validity: differences for average total scores for different clinical grading psychological and social adaptive scale of Parkinson sufferer Hoehn–Yahr have statistical significances, proving excellent discrimination validity for this scale. Conclusion: The psychological and social adaptive scale of Parkinson sufferer designed in this research is featured with superior reliability and validity, which can objectively and effectively carry out psychological and social evaluations on Parkinson sufferers. As a reliable and effective tool, this scale is valuable in practicability and promotion.
