Objective:To analyze the relationship between serum bilirubin and bone metabolism index procollagen type I N-terminalpropetide(PINP)and type carboxyterminal peptide(CTX)in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),and to explore the relationship between osteoporosis and bilirubin. Methods:Choose to see a doctor in the hospital endocrinology of 109 cases of T2 DM patients after menopause, excluding affect bone metabolism of drugs and patients with affect bone metabolic diseases, collect patients’ age, menopausal age, duration of diabetes, height, weight, value of bone mineral density(BMD)measurement, according to the patient BMD values into two groups: normal bone mass group(NO groups),bone mass reduction or osteoporosis group(OD groups),compared two groups of bilirubin level, and of bilirubin and PINP respectively,CTX Pearson correlation analysis.Logistic regression was performed to determine whether the OP was the dependent variable. Results:The inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in 109 cases, including 44 cases(40.4%)of the bone mass normal group and 65 cases(59.6%)of the bone mass reduction group.Statistical analysis showed that: 1.The duration of diabetes, postmenopausal time and serum calcium concentration were not correlated with bone density.2.There were significant differences in age,BMI,total bilirubin(TBIL),PINP,CTX and ALP levels in NO group and OD group, and the TBIL level of NO group was higher than that of OD group(P < 0.001).3.TBIL level was negatively correlated with PINP and CTX(r=-0.316,-0.410).4.Whether to have the OP as dependent variable,Logistic regression analysis, the results showed that age,BMI,bilirubin,as the influence factors of osteoporosis, which age is a risk factor for osteoporosis, bilirubin,BMI is the protection factor of osteoporosis.Conclusion:1.TBIL levels in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes are negatively correlated with PINP and CTX,and higher levels of bilirubin can reduce the bone conversion level of postmenopausal type 2 diabetes.2.Bilirubin in normal range is a protective factor for osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes.
