Electric storm is a clinically critical disease with a high risk of sudden death.It is a state of extreme instability of ventricular electrical activity,also known as sympathetic storm,ventricular storm,catecholamine storm.The occurrence of multiple ventricular arrhythmias in a short period of time is a significant feature.Once an electric storm occurs,it will be extremely dangerous and the condition will deteriorate rapidly.The causes of electrical storms include organic heart disease,noncardiogenic diseases,and hereditary ion channel diseases.At the same time,electrolyte disturbances,acid-base imbalances,unstable electrocardiographic activity,and other inducing factors can all lead to the occurrence of electrical storms.The main mechanism of the electric storm is the over-activation of sympathetic nerves,and the increased reactivity of β-receptors and the abnormal conductance of the His-Purkinian system are also involved.The main treatment measures for electric storm include etiology and incentive treatment,electrical cardioversion or defibrillation,sedation,antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation.At present,early catheter ablation is recommended for refractory electrical storms with high success rate and low complications and recurrence rates.The treatment of electric storms not only requires temporary treatment at the time of onset,but also early identification,effective treatment,and long-term management.Only a comprehensive understanding of the electric storm can effectively deal with the problem of electric storms in clinical practice.
