Objective: To explore the role of adipokines in progression of Non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases(NAFLD),the levels of apelin and visfatin were investigated in patients of normal control group and NAFLD group.Methods:59 cases of NAFLD were enrolled in the study from our medical center and digestive outpatients clinic from the beginning of June 2017 to the end of December 2017;According to the levels of serum Alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and Aspartate aminotransferase(AST),the NAFLD group was divided into two subgroups: Non-alcoholic fatty liver(NAFL)group(n=28)and Non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis(NASH)group(n=31).In addition, among the 59 patients with NAFLD,24 cases showed mild fatty liver and 35 showed moderate fatty liver. At the same time,25 cases of healthy control group were selected at random.General clinical data and biochemical indexesw were collected. The levels of serum apelin and visfatin were detected by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).According to the serum apelin, visfatin levels to speculate their roles in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.The data were analyzed with statistical software of SPSS 23.0.Results:1.Compared with control group, there were no significant differences in age,sex and height between two groups. The body weight and BMI of control group were lower than that of the experimental group.2.The blood biochemical indexes such as TG,CHOL,LDL,ALT,AST and FBG in experimental group were higher compared with control group, while HDL of experimental group is lower than that of control group.3.The level of apelin in control group was lower than that of experimental group, moreover, the level of apelin in the NAFL group was lower than that of NASH group, apelin level in mild fatty liver group was lower than that of moderate fatty liver group, while the level of visfatin in control group was higher than that of experimental group. The level of visfatin in mild fatty liver group was higher than that of moderate fatty liver group, but there was no significant differences between NAFL group and NASH group.4.The relationships between serum apelin and visfatin,TG,CHOL,LDL,HDL,FBG and BMI were analyzed by Pearson correlation. It was showed that apelin was positively correlated with TG,CHOL,LDL,FBG,BMI,and negatively correlated with visfatin and HDL.However, there was a negative correlation between visfatin and TG,CHOL,LDL,FBG,BMI,and a positive correlation with HDL.5.Taking sex, age,BMI,apelin, visfatin,TG,CHOL,LDL,HDL,FBG as independent variables, dependent variable on whether or not NAFLD occurs.Logistic regression analysis was carried out.It was showed that apelin was the risk factor of NAFLD.Visfatin is the protective factor of NAFLD.Conclusions:The level of serum apelin in NAFLD patients was significantly higher than that of control group, which indicating that apelin could promote the occurrence of NAFLD,while the level of visfatin was lower than that of the control group, which indicating that NAFLD had a protective effect on the occurrence of NAFLD.The level of apelin in NASH patients was higher than that of NAFL patients, indicating that apelin might also promote hepatocyte inflammation, but there was no significant difference between them, indicating that there may be no direct relationship between visfatin and hepatocyte inflammation. The level of apelin in group of moderate fatty liver patients was higher than that of mild fatty liver patients, which indicated that apelin could promote steatosis of hepatocytes, while the level of visfatin was lower than that of mild fatty liver patients, suggesting that visfatin might inhibit fatty degeneration of hepatocytes.
