| Objective: To investigate the survival rates of advanced hepatic alveolar echinococcosis(HAE)patients using anti-hydatid agents and the combination of palliative surgery and anti-hydatid agents. Methods: Literature search was performed from the PubMed,Embase,Cochrane liabrary,CBM,VIP database,Wanfang database,CNKI database. The language was limited to Enligh and Chinese.Analysis was coducted to the survival rates of advanced HAE patients using anti-hydatid agents compared to the counterparts using palliative surgery and anti-hydatid agents. Results:Twelve articles were included in the meta analysis, including 3 articles in English and 9 in Chinese.A total of 675 patients(male: 352,female: 241)were enrolled(T-able2).Among the 675 cases,157(23.25%)received surgery,10(1.48%)received minimally invasive surgery,261(38.67%)received palliative surgery and anti-hydatidagents,225(33.33%)received agents as they were not recommended to receive surgery. No statistical difference was noticed in the 3-year survival[RR=1.23,95%CI [0.90,1.68],P=0.20>0.05] and 5-year survival [RR=1.18,95%CI[0.88,1.57],P=0.27 > 0.05] between the patients received anti-hydatid agents compared to the counterparts using palliative surgery and anti-hydatid agents. Conclusions: Oral administ-ration of anti-hydatid agents showed similar treatment efficiency with that of the combination of palliative surgery and anti-hydatid agents. |
