ObjectiveTo analyze the current situation and influencing factors of posttraumatic growth(PTG)in parents of children with Acute Leukemia(AL).Explore the correlation of PTG with social support, coping styles, and rumination. And identify the influencing factors for the PTG of parents of children with AL.Using semi-structured interview to describe the experience of PTG in parents of children with AL and further explore the influencing factors.Ultimately, providing valuable reference for clinical psychological intervention.MethodsQuantitative and qualitative research methods were used in this study to understand the current situation and influencing factors of PTG in parents of children with AL.It consists of two parts:1.Quantitative study on PTG in parents of children with AL: We selected 246 parents of children with AL in the pediatric and hematological departments of someone 3A hospital in Zhengzhou from January 2017 to June 2017,to survey demographic data questionnaire,Chinese Post-traumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI-C),Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),Chinese Version The Event Related Rumination Inventory-Chinese version(ERRI-C).2.A qualitative analysis of the experience of PTG and dig deeper into the related factors: The purposive sampling method was adopted,According to the results of quantitative studies,13 parents of children with AL who had a high level of PTG were selected as the interviewers.Semi-structured interviews were conducted to get a clear understanding of experience of their posttraumatic growth and dig deeper into the related factor from August to November 2017.Results1.The total score of PTG in parents of children with AL was(61.09±16.20),and the total average score was(3.05±0.85).Among the five dimensions, the dimension of philosophy of life is the highest(3.62±0.89)points,and the new probability score is the lowest(2.52±1.08).2.In this survey, the scores of PSSS were(58.90±14.90),of which family support scores were highest(5.25±1.45)and friends support scores were lowest(4.60±1.46);3.In the coping styles in parents of children with AL,the average positive coping scores were((1.68±0.50),and the average negative coping scores were(1.25±0.57)4.In the rumination in parents of children with AL,the score of deliberate rumination were low(1.65±0.73),in the middle and lower level;and the intrusive ruminative were(1.80±0.78).5.Used the PTG score as dependent variable, multiple linear regression was employed to identify possible related factors.Four variables were entered into the regression model: social support, positive coping, deliberate rumination and intrusive rumination. They could explain 41.1% of the total variance in PTG in parents of children with AL(P<0.01).6.Qualitative research results showed that the experience of PTG in parents of children with AL included trauma response and experience growth,The main influencing factors were external factors and their personal factors.Conclusion1.PTG in parents of children with AL is at moderate level.2.Social support, coping style, and rumination are related to PTG.Among them, social support, positive coping, and deliberate rumination can positively predict the PTG of parents.Intrusive rumination can reversely predict posttraumatic growth.3.The experience of PTG in parents of children with AL needs to go through a long process.Among them, parents’ positive self-factors,good social support and their children’s growth can promote their PTG.
