Objective:To analyze and master the demographic characteristics of the population, aged 40 years or older at high risk of stroke,in urban and rural areas of Wuhu and the distribution characteristics of the associated risk factors, and to provide data support and scientific basis for regional stroke prevention and control. Methods:Target population aged≄40 years were selected from urban and rural areas of Wuhu by cluster sampling.Participants were investigated face to face with the questionnaire designed by the Ministry of Health, which included common risk factors of stroke, and other indicators as well, such as body height, weight and blood pressure. And the screened high-risk groups took further laboratory examinations and carotid artery ultrasonography.Results:(1)The proportion of high-risk stroke groups was 18.36%.(2)The risk factors in descending order of detection rates were:hypertention(82.3%),carotid atherosclerosis(62.4%),lack of exercise(61.5%),dyslipidemia(45.3%),amily history of stroke(44.3%),obese or obviously overweight(38.5%),smoking(29.2%),diabetes(19.2%),and atrial fibrillation or valvular disease(2.8%).(3)The risk factors of stroke varies between genders, age and living areas:(1)Genders:the detection rate of obesity or obvious overweight in females was higher than that in males(63.7%VS 55.3%;X~2=8.866,P=0.003);the detection rate of smoking in males was higher than that in females(59.2%VS 2.7%;X~2=459.516,P<0.001).(2)Age:the detection rate of lack of exercise, the detection rate of dyslipidemiain, the detection rate of obesity or obviously overweight in the middle-age group were higher than those in the elder group, they were(67.1%VS 58.8%;X~2=7.609,P=0.006),(52.2%VS 41,9%;X~2=11.125,P<0.001),(64.3%VS 57.6%;X~2=4.896,P=0.027);the detection rate of hypertention, the detection rate of carotid atherosclerosis in the elder group were higher than those in the middle-age group, they were(86.4%VS 74.0%;X~2=27.374,P<0.001),(73.2%VS 40.1%;X~2=122.539,P<0.001).(3)Living areas:the detection rate of family history of stroke, the detection rate of heavy drinking, the detection rate of carotid atherosclerosis in the rural group was higher than that in the urban group, they were(73.2%VS 40.1%;X~2=122.539,P<0.001),(12.1%VS 6.0%;X~2=13.416,P<0.001),(65.4%VS 59.7%;X~2=4.095,P=0.043);the detection rate of obesity or obviously overweight in the urban group was higher than that in the rural group(87.0%VS 29.3%;X~2=412.980,P<0.001).(3)The control compliance rate of risk factors of stroke is low.(4)Risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis of the population at high-risk stroke in Wuhu area were statistically significant differences in age(OR:1.08;95%CI:1.06-1.09;P<0.001),heavy drinking(OR:2.75;95%CI:1.59-4.72;P<0.001),systolic blood pressure(OR:1.02;95%CI:1.00-1.03;P=0.041),fasting blood glucose(OR:1.19;95%CI:1.08-1.30;P<0.001),glycated hemoglobin(OR:1.59;95%CI:1.35-1.85;P<0.001),TCHO(OR:1.31;95%CI:1.14-1.52;P<0.001).Conclusion:The proportion of the population which aged 40 years or older at high risk of stroke in urban and rural areas of Wuhu is characteristic. There are certain differences in risk factors in gender, age, urban and rural areas, and there is a certain relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and some risk factors.According to the distributional characteristics and differences of these related risk factors,it is important to control and strengthen the management and intervention in high-risk stroke groups, which is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of stroke in the region.
