Cities are special ecosystems built by human adaptation, processing, and transformation to the natural environment. The realization of the coordination of urban social and economic development and resource environment is the foundation and guarantee for the construction of livable cities and the realization of ecological civilization.Urban forestry,as an important part of urban resources and environment, plays an important role in the overall and coordinated development of cities. In this study, taking Beijing as an example, based on sorting out the current situation of urban forestry development in Beijing, the macroeconomic and microscopic scales are used to study the coordination between urban forestry and cities in Beijing at the level of time series changes. The results show that:(1)As far as the spatial composition changes, evolution, and conversion characteristics of various ecosystems in Beijing are concerned, forest ecosystems dominate the ecological pattern of Beijing, and other types of ecosystems have begun to show signs of forest ecology in recent years. However, there is not much room for expansionthe and the conversion margin also needs to be improved.(2)The calculation results of the degree of coupling and the degree of coupling coordination between the urban forestry system and the urban system in Beijing show that since 2001,the coupling degree of the urban forestry system and the urban system are both high-quality couplings, and the two have achieved a close interaction and symbiotic development;the coupling coordination degree of urban forestry and urban development in Beijing showed an upward trend in fluctuations from 2000 to 2015 and a steady upward trend for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018;urban forestry and urban development in Beijing are gradually coordinating, and urban forestry construction has entered a stage of high-quality development.(3)The results of the selection experiment based on the use and demand of urban forestry by citizens show that the use of green space by Beijing residents is relatively high, the demand for urban biodiversity is gradually increasing, and the value preference for infrastructure and specific facilities is decreasing. It reflects that with the development of urbanization, citizens are more eager to get close to nature and return to the original ecological needs.Based on this, the study put forward suggestions for optimizing the development of urban forestry in Beijing, including: optimizing the urban land use structure and continuously increasing diversified urban green ecological spaces such as urban forest parks, country parks and small and micro green areas;guided by the needs of citizens to build near-natural forests with rich biological populations and diversified configurations;further expand ecological publicity and improve environmental education to encourage citizens to fully appreciate their values while enjoying various ecological benefits brought by green spaces.
