The use of aging corn reasonably is significance to alleviate the shortage of feed resources and reduce the cost of feed in the feed industry. At present, there are few studies about the effects of aging corn on growth performance, antioxidative function and intestinal health of piglets. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate whether the corn after 4 years storage will affect the antioxidant capacity and intestinal health status, thereby reduce the growth performance of piglets, and initially explore whether the adverse effects of aging corn can be alleviated by the addition of antioxidants in the diet.A total of 24 healthy weaned Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire(DLY)piglets(average 7.24 ± 0.02 kg)were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 6 replicates per treatment and 1piglet per replicate, which were fed basal diet, aging corn 50 diet(50% normal corn in basal diet was substituted by the same amount of aging corn),aging corn 100 diet(100% normal corn in basal diet was substituted by the same amount of aging corn),complex antioxidants diet(aging corn 100 diet + 0.2% compound additives). The trial lasted for 28 d..Result are as follows:(1)Compared with normal corn, the activities of CAT and POD of aging corn respectively decreased by 40.33% and 47.24%,and the contents of FAV and MDA were 1.94 times and 20.41 times of normal corn.(2)Compared with the basal diet group, the addition of aging corn reduced ADFI(P < 0.05),decreased ADG and F/G(P > 0.05).Serum GSH-Px activity was significantly decreased in the aging corn group(P < 0.01),and the T-AOC of the aging corn 100 group was significantly decreased(P < 0.01).Dietary aging corn supplementation significantly increased liver 8-OHd G content(P < 0.01),decreased serum GOT/GPT value and the jejunum GSH-Px activity(P < 0.05),and significantly increased the level of jejunum PCO(P < 0.01).Furthermore,the aging corn group significantly increased serum TNF-α level(P < 0.01),and significantly reduced the jejunum IL-10 and increased the SGLT1 gene m RNA expression abundance(P < 0.05).(3)Compared with the aging corn 100 group, complex antioxidants alleviated the decline of ADFI and ADG of piglets caused by aging corn to variable extent(P > 0.05).However,dietary complex antioxidants supplementation significantly increased serum CAT activity and T-AOC level(P < 0.05),enhanced liver GSH contents(P < 0.01),significantly reduced liver MDA,8-OHd G and PCO contents(P < 0.01).It increased GOT activity by 21.95%(P > 0.05)and decreased GPT activity by 28.90%(P < 0.05),meanwhile,increased the GOT/GPT value by 125%(P < 0.01).Furthermore,the complex antioxidants significantly increased the CAT activity in the spleen(P < 0.05),and decreased the level of MDA in the spleen and jejunum(P < 0.05).In summary, diet supplemented with aging corn significantly reduced the feed intake of piglets, damaged the antioxidant capacity, and resulted in oxidative damage in the liver and jejunum, impaired the liver function, but had no significant effect on jejunal immune function, intestinal barrier structure and hindgut microorganisms and metabolites. The addition of complex antioxidants to a certain extent can enhance he antioxidant capacity of piglets and relieve oxidative damage caused by aging corn. But had no significant influence on the immune function of the jejunum, the intestinal barrier structure, the microorganism and the metabolites in the hindgut.Adding compound antioxidants to a certain extent can enhance the antioxidant capacity of the body and alleviate oxidative damage caused by aging corn.
