As a big traditional agricultural country, agriculture plays an important role in the basic economy of the whole country. The rational allocation of farmer’s labor time has a great impact on the development of agriculture in China. With the acceleration of agricultural industrialization and rural urbanization, the traditional pig free-range farming model has not met the requirements of modern agricultural development and ecological environment.More and more farmers in free-range farming actively or passively withdraw from the pig free-range farming industry. There is a large amount of labor time that needs to be reallocated after farmers withdraw from free-range maintenance. The purpose of this study is to provide scientific and effective guidance for farmers’ time allocation, and to provide reasonable suggestions and suggestions for relevant national support policies. After the pig free-range farmers withdraw from free-range farming, there is a lot of labor time to re-distribute.Based on Becker’s farmer time model, this paper combines data characteristics and time to propose time quartile method, the farmer’s time was divided into planting labor time, farming labor time, housework time and income-generating time outside the farm. After the corresponding literature study and theoretical framework construction, based on a total of 2530 data samples of 860 free-range farmers in Sichuan Province, the non-parametric test was used to analyze the data in general and in classification. The results show that there are obvious differences in the allocation of labor time between the farmers who quit pig farming and those who do not.The time of income-generating labor outside the farm increases, and the time of labor in the farming and breeding industries decreases significantly for the farmers who quit pig farming. On this basis, the Tobit truncated regression model is further constructed to analyze the influencing factors of time allocation differences. The empirical results show that: whether to quit is negatively related to the labor time of planting industry, and the labor time of planting industry after quitting is less than that of non-quitting.Compared with women, the working time of male planting industry decreased more.Age was positively correlated with the working time of planting industry. The area of Farmland Contracted by family and the per capita income of village were positively correlated with the working time of planting industry. There is a negative correlation between the withdrawal of farming labor time and farming labor time. The labor time of aquaculture industry after withdrawal is less than that of non-withdrawal.The working time of male farming industry is much less than that offemale farming industry.Age is positively correlated with the working time of aquaculture industry, while education is negatively correlated with the working time of aquaculture industry.Family property, village per capita income and farmland area were positively correlated with farming labor time.Whether to quit, sex, education years and distance from county towns are positively correlated with the time of income-generating labor outside agriculture.Age,household burden ratio, household property, per capita income of villages and cultivated land area of villages are negatively correlated with the time of income-generating outside agriculture.Withdrawal of housework time, gender and education years are negatively correlated with housework time, while age, household burden ratio and village per capita income are positively correlated with housework time.Based on the above results and relevant conclusions, this paper finds out that the problem of increasing burden on women,left-behind children in rural areas and families with heavy burden caused by free-range education is a vicious circle. The following policy suggestions are put forward to provide financial assistance and technical support to farmers who have not withdrawn or continue to engage in aquaculture, encourage them to transform to large-scale and standardized aquaculture, and extend their downstream processing industry chain.Agricultural technology extension and agricultural science and technology services are provided to farmers engaged in planting.Provide policy support for farmers’ land transfer and other behaviors.Farmers who go out to work should provide technical training in labor skills, establish and improve labor export institutions and incentive mechanisms, build up timely and effective employment information platform, and safeguard the interests of migrant workers.Legislation guarantees women’s rights and interests, resolves the problem of left-behind children from the root and provides corresponding subsidies and assistance for families with heavy burdens.
