Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenee is an important pest in the main rice producing areas of China, which seriously affects the yield and quality of rice. The safe and efficient control of this pest is an important issue in rice production.Using cultivation management measures, especially scientific management of fertilizer and water,to regulate the growth and development of rice is an important measure for green control of rice diseases and pests.Controlled-release fertilizer is a new type of fertilizer developed in recent years. In this paper, the effects of Controlled-release fertilizer on C.medinalis and the growth and development of rice were studied. The main results are as follows:1.Physiological and biochemical indexes such as plant height, leaf age, tiller number and plant soluble protein, total nitrogen, chlorophyll and soluble sugar content of rice treated with one-time controlled-release fertilizer MTRY(treatment II),one-time controlled-release fertilizer MTRY nitrogen reduction(treatment II-N)and conventional fertilization(treatment I)were significantly higher than those without nitrogen fertilizer(control). The plant height, chlorophyll and soluble sugar content of rice treated in I were higher than those in treatment II and II-N in the early stage, but there was no significant difference in the later stage. The number of tillers in treatment II and II-N was higher than that in treatment I at grain filling stage, and treatment II was significantly higher than that in treatment I.2.The three indexes of egg laying, the number of larva and leaf rolling rate of C.medinalis in the controlled-release fertilizer rice field were lower than that of conventional fertilizer.Field experiments showed that the rate of leaf rolling in the MTRY treatment area of the controlled-release fertilizer was significantly lower than that in other treatment areas.Conventional fertilization methods lead to excessive accumulation of nitrogen nutrients, resulting in reduced insect resistance and vulnerability to infestation of C.medinalis.The damage of C.medinalis to rice was significantly reduced in the plot of controlled-release fertilizer MTRY.3.The number of effective panicles and grains per panicle of rice treated with controlled-release fertilizer was significantly higher than that in the control area. The average yield of control, treatment II-N,treatment II and treatment I were 3,697 kg/hm2,7,406 kg/hm2,8,846 kg/hm2 and 7,451 kg/hm2,respectively.The results showed that the application of controlled-release fertilizer could promote rice development and increase rice yield.
