Investigation Of Intestinal Parasitic Diseases Of Pigs In Partial Areas Of Huainan And Clinical Trial Of Drug Against Trichomonads

Parasitic diseases are common chronic diseases of livestock and poultry.There are different degrees of parasite infection in pig farms in China,which cause great economic losses to pig farms.At present,the epidemiology of intestinal parasites in pig farms in Huainan area is not clear.The infection of intestinal parasitic of pigs in several pig farms in Huainan area was investigated which will provide reference for prevention and control of intestinal parasitic diseases in pig farms.Because of the prevalence of trichomonas infection of pigs in Huainan area,clinical trials of trichomonas were performed.six hundred and fifty fresh fecal samples of pigs were collected from seven pig farms in Huainan area and inspected the intestinal parasites using the direct smear,the saturated salt flitation,the water washing precipitation and the Lugol’iodine-solution staining method.The results showed that the infection rate of intestinal parasites of pigs in Huainan area was 35.69%.The infection rates of Ascaris suum,Trichuris trichiura,Strongyloides ransomi,Cryptosporidium ssp.,Eimeria spp.,Balantidium coli and trichomonads were 1.07%,0.62%,6.00%,1.38%,2.77%,17.54%and 6.31%,respectively.The mixed infection of intestinal parasites of pigs was the co-infection of two kinds of parasites and the mixed infection rate was 4.77%.The mixture infection rates of Strongyloides ransomi and trichomonads were 0.92%.The mixture infection rates of Eimeria spp.and Balantidium coli were 1.07%.The mixture infection rates of trichomonads and Balantidium coli were 2.77%.The infection rates of intestinal parasites in small-scale pig farms were higher than those of the large-scale pig farms.The Balantidium coli,Strongyloides ransomi and Trichomonad were dominant parasites in the small-scale pig farms and the Balantidium coli was dominant parasites in the large-scale pig farms.The infection rate of Strongyloides ransomi of suckling piglets was high.Moreover,the infection rates of Trichomonad and Balantidium coli in nursery pig and fattening pig were high.Clinical trials were conducted on 32 diarrhea pigs with trichomonas positive using metronidazole,dimetridazole and albendazole-ivermectin.The clinical effects of the drug were evaluated by diarrhea,fecal examination and fecal parasite culture.The results showed that metronidazole and dimetridazole had a good deworming effect on Trichomonas.
