| Inhalation anesthesia is the mainstream anesthesia in pet treatment, however is not suitable for use in certain special varieties equine and other large animals. With the development of the modern horse industry, especially the vigorous rise of equestrian clubs, amusement parks and zoos, the number of feed horses in China has increased rapidly.Relative horse-related diseases are also increasing. Some equine animals, especially zoo animals such as zebras, ponies, wild donkeys etc,due to wildness can not be easily approached. Therefore, when anesthesia is performed, inhalation anesthesia and intravenous administration may not be easily delivered. In tramuscular injection of anesthesia is a more appropriate method.Intramuscular anesthesia can be when not approaching ponies,Intramuscular injection of anesthetic by means of a blow pipe at a long distance, providing safety for both personnel and ponies. However,as far as narcotic drugs are concerned, there is still no single drug available for the choice of certain special varieties equine animals, especially non-domesticated animals such as zebras, dwarfs, wild donkeys etc.Combined anesthetics is the mainstream in the development of anesthesia,it provides increased safety and stability, while reducing the single drug dose, and also reducing the toxicity and side effects. The purpose of this experiment was to select a much safer and better anesthetic method for use in ponies which can be used not only for the anesthesia in ponies, but also for other equines such as zebras and wild donkeys. To make anesthesia safer and more effective for equine animals. In the experiment,3 ponies were selected.A combination of xylazole 1mg/kg,ketamine 5mg/kg,butorphanol 34mg/kg,was mixed into a syringe, and administered intramuscularly using a blow dart.Observing the anesthetic effect of the compound drug in ponies. After administration of pre anesthetic agents, after falling to the ground, time period after falling to the ground monitored parameters included temperature(T),heart rate(HR),respiratory rate(RR),blood pressure(BP),and blood oxygen saturation(SPO2).At the same time, aspartate aminotransferase(A ST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),creatinine(Crea)and blood urea nitrogen(BUN)liver and kidney indicators were detected before and after anesthesia,to determine the effects of xylazole-ketamine-butorphanol combination on the physiology and anesthetic effectof ponies. The results showed that the average time for the onset of anesthesia was 12.33 ± 4.04 min,and the average recovery time was 4.67 ± 0.58 min.Anesthesia maintained for 1.5h,during the anesthetic period, sedation, analgesia, and muscle relaxation was of good quality. The depth of anesthesia reached a surgical anesthesia period phase III,Level 2,and can omplete less complex surgery of medium size and larger size. After 1.5 hours there was a decrease in body temperature from 39.00 ± 0.20℃ to 37.63 ± 0.15 ℃.The average art erial pressure decreased from 112.67 ± 3.06 mm Hg to 88.67 ± 4.04 mm Hg,the systolic pr essure decreased from 139.00 ± 2.00 mm Hg to 109.00 ± 3.61 mm Hg,and the diastolic pr essure decreased from 99.00 ±4.36 mm Hg to 78.33 ± 4.04 mm Hg.Blood oxygen saturation decreased from 98.67 ± 0.58 % to 91.3 ± 1.15 %.Respiratory rate decreased from 20.00 ± 1.00 breaths per min to 12.67 ± 0.58 breaths per min.Heart rate decreased from 56.33 ± 1.53 beats per min to 38.33 ± 2.08 beats per min.Changes in liver and kidney indexe s had no effect.Comprehensive results showed that Xylazole-ketamine-buttoprolol combined anesthesia has a certain inhibitory effect on the cardiopulmonary function in ponies.Altho ugh it has an effect of respiratory circulatory system in ponies, but the impact is slight an d changes within the normal physiological range. |
