| This study was conducted to investigate the effect ofγ-aminobutyric acid and traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions(TCM)drug combination on growth performance,serum index,and relative gene expression of heat stress in beef cattle,in order to investigate the mechanism of pathogenesis in heat stress and seek a green,safe,effective prevention and control program on heat stress in beef cattle.40 healthy and uncastrated 22 month old Jinjiang yellow cattle with an initial weight of 441.6±10.06 kg were randomly divided into 4 groups(Control,TCM,GABA,TCM+GABA group)with 10cattle in each group,and all groups were supplied with basal diet,but TCM,GABA and TCM+GABA groups were respectively supplied with 75 mg/kg TCM,16 mg/kg GABA,75 mg/kg TCM and 16 mg/kg GABA on BW.Venous blood samples from cattle’s jugular vein on the 30,and 60 day were collected;serum was separated to determine related blood biochemical indexes;related gene expression in blood were detected by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR);nutrient digestibility in all dung was measured;physiological indexes of observation of beef cattle was tested;daily feed intake and weight gain were measured as well.Results are as follows:(1)Compared with control group,the ADG and ADFI contents significantly increased in TCM+GABA group(P<0.05).(2)Compared with control group,the CP,CF Ca,P and NDF apparent nutrient digestibility contents significantly increased(P<0.05)in TCM+GABA group.CP,NDF,and CF contents of TCM+GABA group were significantly higher in TCM+GABA group compared with GABA group(P<0.05),CF content was significantly higher compared with TCM group(P<0.05).(3)Compared with control group,the TP,ALB,GLB,T-CHO,TG,and GLU contents significantly increased(P<0.05)in TCM+GABA group,the BUN and HDL-C levels in TCM+GABA group significantly decreased(P<0.05);the TP and GLB levels in TCM+GABA group were significantly higher compared with TCM group(P<0.05),the BUN level was decreased significantly in GABA group(P<0.05).(4)Compared with control group,the Ca2+and Cl-contents in TCM+GABA group significantly increased(P<0.05),the Na+and K+contents significantly decreased(P<0.05);The Ca2+and P levels in TCM+GABA group were significantly higher compared with GABA group(P<0.05),the Na+content was significantly lower compared with TCM and GABA groups(P<0.05).(5)Compared with control group,the SOD,T-AOC,and GSH-PX contents significantly increased in TCM+GABA group(P<0.05),the MDA content significantly decreased(P<0.05),the SOD and GSH-PX contents of TCM+GABA group were significantly higher compared with TCM group(P<0.05);in TCM+GABA group,the SOD content was significantly higher compared with TCM and GABA groups(P<0.05).(6)Compared with control group,the COR,GH,INS,T3 and T4 contents in TCM+GABA group significantly increased(P<0.05).The COR and INS contents in TCM+GABA group significantly increased compared with Control group(P<0.01).(7)Compared with control group,the C3,C4,IgA,IgG,and IgM contents in TCM+GABA group significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with TCM group,the C4and IgM contents in TCM+GABA group significantly increased(P<0.05).(8)Compared with control group and TCM group,the mRNA expression levels of HSP27,HSP60,and HSP90 in TCM+GABA group were significantly higher(P<0.05).The mRNA expression level of HSP70 in TCM+GABA group was significantly higher compared with TCM and GABA groups(P<0.01).(9)Compared with control group,the mRNA expression levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-10 in TCM+GABA group were significantly higher(P<0.05).The mRNA expression levels of IL-6 and IL-10 in TCM+GABA group were significantly higher compared with TCM group(P<0.01).Diet added with Chinese traditional medicine or RP-GABA alone as well as the combination,can improve the production performance,raise cattle antioxidant capacity,improve the body’s endocrine system,immune system and digestive system of beef cattle,and relieve beef cattle heat stress.But combination of RP-GABA and Chinese traditional medicine additives has a best effect compared to single added. |
