The Sloping Land Conversion Program(SLCP)is an ecological construction project to achieve harmonious development between human and nature, which aims to solve the problems of ecological environment such as soil erosion and land desertification and to improve unreasonable land use. With the end of the first phase of the project, the construction of the second phase of SLCP is also carried out.It is important to understand and master the impact of the first phase of SLCP on the agricultural structure and the potential woodland space for the secondphase of the project, which have an important practical significance on the improvement ofSLCP and reasonable development of secondphase of the project. The objective of this paper is to explore whether the Sloping Land Conversion Program(SLCP)has an impact on agricultural structure of Tiantangzhai town, using the descriptive statistics and logistic regression model to analyze the data and based on the study area of Tiantangzhai Town,Jinzhai County,Anhui Province. At the same time, the land use map and slope map are produced based on data source of WorldView-2 remote sensing satellite image and DEM,and the remote sensing and geographic information system technology, which used to classifythe land use types and analyze the terrain.Through the superposition analysis of the two thematic layers, the boundary of the plots of cultivated land which is consistent with the conditions of SLCP is extracted and the area is calculated. Finally, the cultivated land area of the second phase of the project in the future is summarized, which is hoped to provide relevant theoretical and practical basis for the following development of SLCP.The results as follows:(1)Based on the descriptive analysis of the basic situation of the peasant households,it was concluded that the livestocknumber and cultivated land area of householdsparticipating in the programwas different significantly, compared with householdsnot participating in the program. In addition, there was no significant difference between the two in terms of basic information and household expenditure.(2)Logistic regression model results showed that the model’s chi-square statistics are significant(p<0.05),the values of Cox&Snell R-square and Nagelkerke R-square are greater than 0.8,and the overall fitting effect of the model is good.Underthe implementation of the project, the agricultural activities of farmers had a certain impact on the wealth of the family, including positive and negative effect, and it also showed that the project has an influence on farmers’agricultural structure.(3)DuetotheinfluenceofSLCP,therewassomedifference betweenhouseholdsparticipating in the program and non-participants,in terms of the average cropping area and the average harvest. In the breeding structure, the program had an impact on the average number of livestock of household, whichthe average livestock number of participating households is higher than that of are not participating in the program.Among them, the average number of poultry is obviously different. In the agricultural expenditure, only thelabor expenditurewas significantly lower thanthe farmers who not participating in the program compared with farmers who participating in it,andall of other agricultural expenditure were higher than farmers who not participating in the program. As a result, there also had some significant differences in agricultural expenditure between two types of households.(4)The result, which obtained by analyzing the potential of the second phase of SLCPbased on the remote sensing image,DEM data and topographic map of Jinzhai County and the second survey data, showed that study area was a mountainous area which mainly composed of forest land. The proportion of forest land was up to 84.92%,andarable landonly accounted for 11.47%with a wider distribution.Thearea proportion ofaltitude of400~600m,600~800m,800~1000m,1000~1200m and larger than 1200m in the total area is 17.57%,41.50%,24.45%,11.07%and 5.23%,respectively,which can be seen that the distribution of more altitude in the region wasbetween 600m and 1000m.(5)Thearea proportion of slop in 0~8°,8~15°,15~25°,25~35°and greater than35°was 18.60%,30.30%,33.50%,14.67%and 2.92%in the total area, respectively.Among them, the area of 8~25°accounted for the larger proportion of the total area, which nearly about 63.80%of the total area, and area of slope above 25°accounted for 17.59%.(6)It was found that the area of the project which can be returned into forestland in the second phase was 149.01hm~2,when superposed the vector data of the slope above 25degrees and the vector data of the cultivated land category. At the same time,it is also observed that the area which can be returned into forestlandwas mostly distributed in the relatively low elevation areaand along the river by stacking with the topographic map.
