Desertification monitoring which makes use of the remote sensing technology is an important part of desertification research.In this paper,Ningxia Roshan is the research object area.Through the study of historical literature and the combining with vegetation growth,land use and other information of Roshan,we selected the normalized vegetation index NDVI,temperature and drought resistance vegetation index TVDI and land surface temperature as the monitoring index and established a remote sensing monitoring index system that regards the Ningxia Roshan area as an example.Based on the established remote sensing monitoring index system,we realize the classification of the vegetation types and the dividing degree of the desertification.We also monitor and analysis the desertification change of this area.Based on the research content and the project needs,we designed and developed the the vegetation monitoring system for desertification area at Rashan based on remote sensing technology.The vegetation monitoring system of desertification area based on the remote sensing technology is supported by the Visual2010 as the development platform,and embedded Mapobjects geographic information module.Therefore the vegetation monitoring system mainly include remote sensing image data which is the source data,geographic information and vegetation characteristics.What's more,the VC++and MapObjects are software tools.Based on the research contents and business requirements,the system structure,monitoring system model,data processing flow and main function realization are finely designed and developed.What's more,the feasibility of the system is verified by the application of examples.The system integrates remote sensing image data processing,data processing and output results,and combines the desertification classification and other research results.Finally,the system achieves the goal of monitoring and analysis the research region's ecological environment,moreover,it also provide a scientific basis for the protection and management of the regional ecological environment.
