Buddhism was introduced into China in the late Eastern Han Dynasty,Buddhism formed Tibetan Buddhism by integrating Tibetan culture in Tibetan areas, then Tibetan Buddhism became the dominant religious belief in Tibetan areas. As the most prosperous sect in Tibetan Buddhism, the Gelug emerged and developed in Mongolia during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. With the spread of Tibetan Buddhism in the Mongolian region, the construction of Hohhot Tibetan Buddhism as a material carrier for the promotion of Buddhism came into being.Hohhot is located in the Mongolian region and near the central China,When the Tibetan Buddhist culture was introduced,it combined with different cultural backgrounds, geographical conditions and other factors at that time, resulting in a number of Tibetan Buddhist architectures that integrated the Central China Han culture and Mongolian grassland culture, fully reflect the architecture concept of “ Adjust measures to local conditions”.Therefore,as the witness of the history of Hohhot, the study on Hohhot Tibetan Buddhist Architecture is very meaningful. In the past, most studies of Tibetan Buddhism in Hohhot were based on history, art, and aesthetics, and were mainly directed at a single monastery. Therefore, this paper selects five existing Tibetan Buddhism temples in Hohhot as the research object, based on field research and consulting literature materials, starting from the perspective of integrity and architecture, and synthesizing history, religion, aesthetics, and ethnicity.Firstly, the paper explored the historical development context and cultural background of Tibetan Buddhism in Hohhot, and then compared the location, layout, individual characteristics and decorative features of Tibetan Buddhism with traditional Tibetan Buddhist architecture and Han.The comparison of architectural styles explores the cultural characteristics and artistic value of its diverse regional architecture.
