Steel plate shear wall is a new type of lateral force resisting structure, which has become one of the most promising lateral force resisting structure in high rise buildings because of advantages of large initial stiffiness, high bearing capacity and strong energy dissipation capacity. The embedded steel panels in the unstiffened and the buckling-restrained steel plate shear walls resist horizontal loads in forms of tension band and pure shear stress fields, respectively. However, the embedded steel panels affect additionally the surrounding frameworks, which results in failure of frame columns before panels. The existing research focused on the mechanical properties of the embedded steel panels, and it is relatively limited the studie on the interaction mechanism between the panel and framworks. In this paper, hysteretic behavior and walls-frame interaction mechanism of the structure with unstiffened steel panels and buckling-restrained steel panels were studied by using the experimental test and numerical simulation method. The interaction mechanism between shear panels and surrounding frame was analyzed in details. The main works accomplished is as followings.(1)The pseudo static test of six unstiffened SPSWs and BR-SPSWs with different wall-column connections under cyclic loading were carried out.The failure mode, lateral stiffness, bearing capacity, ductility and energy dissipation capacity were tested. The influence of the wall-column connection and the concrete cover plates on the lateral resistance of the structure were also analyzed.(2)The finite element model of six SPSW specimens were established, and the validity of the models were proved by comparing the skeleton curve and checking the failure time.Pushover analysis method was used to study the wall-frame interaction, including the distribution of the shear force of the wall plate and edge frame, and the variation of the internal force of the edge frame column along the loading process and height. The influence of the wall-column connection and the buckling restrained plate on the wall-frame interaction were also analyzed and compared.(3)Based on the existing theory and the latest regulations,12 unstiffened SPSWs and BR-SPSWs were designed respectively.Firstly, the whole process of stress was used to verify whether the models satisfied the ideal failure mechanism And then analyzed the impact of span and structural layers on the wall-frame interaction, studied the distribution of shear force and its variation along the height of the wall frame and the tension column, the contribution ratio of the embedded steel plate and frame lateral displacement to the axial force at the bottom of the column, and the difference of axial force betwieen tension column and compression column.(4)Compared the unstiffened SPSWs and BR-SPSWs and corresponding pure frame.Based on the analysis of the difference between the shear bearing capacity, the lateral stiffness and the deformation of the frame column, the wall-frame interaction mechanism is further studied.
