Objective: In recent years,China's air pollution situation is grim,the frequent occurrence of polluted weather in autumn and winter,which seriously threatens human health,has aroused widespread social concern.The adverse effects of air pollution are not only manifested in the impact on physical health,but also in its negative impact on mental health,which causes psychological problems such as depression,anxiety and disturbance.It is urgent to explore people's perception of risk and mental health in air-polluted weather.Methods: In this study,cluster random sampling method was used to select residents of a community in Heping District of Tianjin as the research subjects,and the month with poor air quality was selected.In November 2018,a questionnaire survey was conducted among the research population.The questionnaire of risk perception ability and symptom checklist 90(SCL-90)were used to obtain information on the factors and characteristics affecting risk perception,and to explore the mental health status of residents in polluted weather.Results:(1)In recent years,the AQI values in Tianjin were high in winter and low in summer.Air pollution was serious in winter and light in summer.The annual average concentration of PM2.5 decreaseds year by year,and the peak of air pollution curve appearred mostly in autumn and winter.(2)Most of the participants had a clear understanding of the health impact of heavily polluted weather and the body's sensitivity to air pollution,and the ways of obtaining information about the health impact of air pollution were different among participants with different age;(3)The level of risk awareness of air pollution was related to gender and age;(4)The total score of SCL-90 and the scores of anxiety,paranoia and psychosis of the investigated residents were higher than the national norm,but the scores of obsessive-compulsive disorder,interpersonal sensitivity,hostility and psychosis of SCL-90 were significantly lower than the national level;(5)The mental health status of residents with different gender,age,educational level,occupation and marital status had significant difference in SCL-90.Men,older age group,married,low educational level and unemployed residents had more chances to have mental health problems.Lifestyle such as smoking and drinking also had some influence on the mental health status of residents.(6)In air pollution season,the scores of interpersonal sensitivity,hostility,psychosis and other factors of people who use air purifiers at home were lower.Conclusions:(1)The air quality in Tianjin has been improved,the pollution level has been decreasing year by year,and the polluted weather mostly occurs in autumn and winter;(2)Most of the residents surveyed have a clear understanding of the health impact of heavily polluted weather and the sensitivity of their bodies to air pollution,and gender and age maybe affect the risk perception;(3)People who are males,older age,married,low-educated and unemployed may have mental health problems.Lifestyles such as smoking and drinking also have certain effects on the mental health status of residents.The relationship between people's awareness of air pollution and mental health.The use of air purifiers at home to improve the air quality of living environment may have a positive effect on mental health,and age factor is also a factor.The main factors affecting the mental health of residents,older residents are more likely to have positive symptoms.
