Strontium and cesium are typical radioactive nuclides,they consist the majority of radioactive nuclear waste sediment in the soil in nuclear industry activities and nuclear incidents,which is a threat to both ecology and human health.In order to remediate the soil polluted by strontium and cesium,remediation experiments employing in situ deactivation with calcium carbonate;powder absorbite,coconut shell charcoal and calcium dihydrogen pHospHate as fixatives were carried out and a database on plants that could enrich nuclides and heavy metals was established,which could provide pivotal information for soil heavy metal remediation.In addition,a database on flower radiation mutagenesis information was established based on considerations on radiations so as to provide information for radiation mutagenesis ot flowers,i.e.the utilization of nuclide radiation.The results are as follows:(1)In comparison with the control,all the treatments were able to reduce effective Sr content,with a deactivation rate ranging from 4.83%to 84.4%,wherein0.2%,1%and 5%w/w calcium dihydrogen phosphate were able to significantly reduce soil effective Sr content.with deactivation rates at 49.67%,73.67%and 84.46%,respectively.A s compared with the control,5%w/w powder absorbite and 0.2%coconut shell charcoal were able to significantly reduce soil Cs content,with deactivation rates at 68.14%and 32.19%,respectively,while the other fixatives showed insignificant effects on soil effective Cs content.Thetreatments with 1%and 5%w/w calcium dihydrogen phosphate significantly reduced soil pH value,while treatments with 0.2%,1%and 5%w/w calcium carbonate,0.2%w/w absorbite and 0.2%,1%and 5%w/w coconut shell charcoal significantly increased soil pH value.Treatments with 1%and 5%w/w powder absorbite and 5%w/w coconut shell charcoal significantly increased soil organic carbon content.Treatments with 1%w/w powder absorbite and 1%and 5%w/w calcium dihydrogen pHospHate significantly increased soil cation exchange amount.Thecorrelation analysis revealed that soil pH value was significantly positively correlated with soil effective Sr content(P<0.01),while soil cation exchange amount and soil organic carbon content were significantly negatively correlated with soil effective Sr content(P<0.01).In conclusion,the treatment with 5%w/w calcium dihydrogen pHospHate showed best deactivation for soil Sr,while 5%w/w absorbite treatment showed best deactivation for soil Cs.(2)The database of nuclide and heavy metal enriching plantis for core accumulators resources for plant remediation of soil polluted by nuclides and their accompanying heavy metals,including nuclides of strontium,cesium,uraium and cobalt as well as heavy metals such as cadmium,lead and manganese.The database is based on publications related to screening of plants that could enrich nuclides and heavy metals,and key information on over 600 enriching plants,including basic information,image,experimental design,and results has been comprehensively integrated,acquired and assembled according to standard operating protocols.Information on experimental design of enriching plants for selected nuclides and heavy metals,especially properties on biomass,absorption,transportation and enrichment was recorded in the database,where queries can be made by types of nuclide or heavymetal,plant scientific name and plant Chinese name.Thedatabase of nuclide and heavymetal enriching planthas been granted software by the Chinese government.(3)The flower radiation mutagenesis information database is aiming at investigating,c urating and distributing germplasm resources for flower radiation mutagenesis within Sichuan Province and even worldwide.The information in the database include institu tions working on flower radiation mutagenesis worldwide,especially within China,in particular within Sichuan Province,radiation resources,radiation material,radiation s ource.radiation dose,dose rate,techniques for analysis,detection and characterization,as well as the number,characteristics,geological distribution and utilization of innov alive flower germplasm resources.The flower radiation mutagenesis breeding informati on database has been granted software by the Chinese government.
