Water pump guide bearing is a key component of the pump,its performance is directly related to the operational effectiveness,energy efficiency and the service normal life of the pump.Conditions are complex under the work circumstance,especially the sediment content of the water is relatively large,most of the pump failure is caused by poor resistance to sediment wear,which not only increases the cost of maintenance of the pump,but also shorten the normal service life of the pump.Therefore,it made a higher demand for resistance to sediment wear of the water pump bearing material.This paper attempts to develop a new type composites materials which have good performance in resistance to sediment wear for water pump bearing,and the fluidity,water absorption,thermal conductivity,mechanical properties,tribological properties and wear mechanism of composites were studied.It can provide some theoretical helping for the practical application of the material.The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.The lacquer seed shell fibers(LSSF)/HDPE/UHMWPE composites were prepared through melt extrusion and injection molding,the effects of LSSF content and different molecular weight UHMWPE on the flow properties,water absorption,thermal conductivity,mechanical properties and tribological properties of the composites were studied.The results shown that the appropriate amount of LSSF was beneficial to improve the impact strength of the composites,but the tensile strength and bending strength were decreased.The friction coefficient and the wear loss of the composites were greatly improved when adding 15wt%LSSF in the composites and the mechanical properties and wear resistance of UHMWPE composites with molecular weight of 6 million were better than those of UHMWPE composites with molecular weight of 4 million.The composites prepared with 15wt%LSSF and UHMWPE with molecular weight of 6 million have the best comprehensive performance.2.The test of LSSF/HDPE/UHMWPE composites under different Loads shown that the friction coefficient has nothing to do with the load,but the wear loss improved with the increase d of load.The tribological properties of the composites are closely related to the material of friction pair.When 45steel,GCr15 and stainless steel were used as the materials of friction pair,the friction coefficient and wear loss with the stainless steel friction pair were the least.Friction and wear test of composites in sandy water shown that the particle size of sand have effect on tribological properties of the composites,the wear loss of the composites was the largest when the sand particle size was 150 mesh and the friction coefficient of the composites was the largest when the sand particle size was 60 mesh.The content of sand has a certain effect on the tribological properties of the composites.The greater the sediment content,the greater the coefficient of friction and wear of the composites.3.The SEM analysis of the friction and wear surface shows that the wear mechanism of the composites was also different under different conditions.The mainly wear mechanism of the composites was adhesive wear and plastic deformation under the dry friction condition,in the sand water conditions,the abrasive wear and plastic deformation was the mainly wear mechanism.4.The performance of resistance to sediment wear of LSSF/HDPE/UHMWPE composites is excellent,it can be considered for the manufacture of water pump bearings.
