Ancient Chinese mathematics has a long history.From the BC to the 14 th century,the development of ancient Chinese mathematics has experienced three peaks,creating a world-famous mathematical achievement.The history of mathematics in ancient China is rich,but due to the difference with Western mathematics,the academic circles have different evaluations.The debate on “whether there is mathematics in ancient China”is one of them.Represented by Liu Dun and Wu Guosheng: Liu Dun believes that ancient Chinese mathematics "has surgery and learning",that is,there are mathematics in ancient China;Wu Guosheng believes that ancient Chinese mathematics "has no surgery",that is,there is no mathematics in ancient China.The significance and value of this debate is that we can think about the core ideas and historical values of ancient Chinese mathematics from the debate.The thesis takes the debate on "There is no mathematics in ancient China" as the starting point,and studies the core ideas and historical values of ancient Chinese mathematics.Through Liu Dun and Wu Guosheng's analysis of the different viewpoints of "there is no mathematics in ancient China",it is found that the discussion of "the existence of mathematics in ancient China" still needs to return to the ancient Chinese mathematics itself.Ancient Chinese mathematics is rich in historical materials,such as the "Arithmetic Ten Classics" and other ancient books of mathematics.Studying the historical materials of ancient Chinese mathematics and exploring the core concepts of ancient Chinese mathematics are as follows: 1.Ancient Chinese mathematics takes practical rationality as the premise of concept;2.Ancient Chinese mathematics uses the concept of harmony between man and nature as the basis;3.Ancient Chinese mathematics uses the Getting knowledge through investigation to be the way of thinking.Through the study of the core concepts of ancient Chinese mathematics,the historical value of ancient Chinese mathematics and its contemporary significance are explored.Under the guidance of the concepts of practical rationality,harmony between man and nature,and getting knowledge through investigation,ancient Chinese mathematics was characterized by structure and mechanization.It is the mechanizedancient Chinese mathematics that brought the algorithmic tendency of mathematics development,which made the ancient Chinese mathematics glow life and vitality in the algorithmized today.This paper explores the core ideas and historical values of ancient Chinese mathematics through the debate on whether there is mathematics in ancient China.Through the study of the ancient Chinese mathematics historical materials concept and value,facing the ancient Chinese mathematics,looking forward to the contemporary development of mathematics,and enhancing the confidence of Chinese culture,ancient Chinese mathematics is demonstrating its unique cultural value in the history of Chinese civilization.
