In this paper,basing on the research by the 5 types of recovering vegetation which were Robinia pseudoacacia,Ulmus pumila,Vitex negundo,Periploca sepium Bunge and Zea mays in the Haizhou coalmine dump,and Zea mays was taken as controls,analyzed the seasonal variation characteristics of soil biological activity for different recovering vegetation in time and space,including the characteristics of soil physical and chemical properties,the seasonal varitation,characteristics soil enzyme activities and soil microbial quantity.Discussed the correlation between soil physical and chemical properties,soil enzyme activity,soil microbial quantity and soil improvement effect in different recovering vegetation.The results showed that: soil pH value,total N content,available N and total P content of Robinia pseudoacacia were the highest;soil organic matter of Ulmus pumila was the highest;total K content and available K of Periploca sepium Bunge were the highest;soil bulk density and available P of Zea mays were the highest;soil temperature with seasons showed a rise first followed by a decline;soil moisture content with seasons showed a rise first followed by a decline then another rise;different recovering vegetation soil physical and chemical properties with depth showed irregular changes.Soil enzyme activities with seasons showed a rise first followed by a decline;the average amount of the soil catalase activity of Ulmus pumila was the highest and the average amount of soil urease activity and invertase activity of Zea mays were the highest;soil enzyme activities decreased with increasing depth.Soil microbial quantity with seasons showed a rise first followed by a decline;the average amount of soil bacteria,fungi,actinomyces and microorganisms of Zea mays were the highest;soil microbial quantity decreased with increasing depth.Correlation analysis showed that there was a certain correlation between soil enzyme activity,soil microbial population and soil physicochemical properties(P<0.05)and soil bulk density,moisture content,total K,available N,available K and organic matter were the main factors which influence soil biological activity in dump.The method of principal component analysis showed that soil urease activity,invertase activity,actinomycetes,microorganisms,bulk density,moisture content,pH value,total P,available P and organic matter were the main influential factors of the soil quality in dump.
