On The Use Of Exhibition Boards And Explanatory Cards In Modern Museums

Reading museum exhibition boards and instruction plates are the most direct way to understand the connotation of the exhibits when the audience visiting the exhibition.However, people pay less attention to traditional exhibition boards and instruction plates on innovating. In recent years, the academic study of museum exhibition boards and instruction plates becomes more and more important, that means they still have irreplaceable position in the exhibition.After visiting four museums in Nanjing, and they can be roughly divided into two categories: The one exhibits mainly material objects and the other exhibits mainly pictures. In the process of investigation, I studied text content, selection of auxiliary items, in the form of text layout design, exhibition boards placement and other issues for exhibition board. As for instruction plates, I studied the content of the text, the text format, the instruction plate display form and position and other issues. I found that the content and the form design of exhibition boards and instruction plates respectively have many unreasonable phenomenons.After research and analysis, it is concluded that because of the poor communication between the content designers and the form designers lead to the above phenomenon. The two sides should strengthen cooperation in the work to discuss the best solution. Moreover, the copywriter designers need to cultivate a certain sense of art design and the form designers also need to have certain writing accomplishment. In this way, the two sides can reach a consensus in the work much faster and better in order to design a really suitable exhibition boards and instruction plates for museums.
