Compared with the radar system,the infrared imaging system has many advantages of passive detection and invisibility,strong anti-electromagnetic-interference ability,small size and high resolving ability,which has been used in the field of military information warfare widely.Target detection,as one of the important applications of infrared imaging system,has received extensive attention.In this paper,three aspects of infrared imaging system target detection are studied,which are the infrared radiation characteristics of the target,infrared atmosphere transmission and the detection ability of the infrared imaging system.Firstly starting from three ways of heat transfer,serval factors influencing the target surface temperature are analyzed.The heat balance equation is established,and Laplace transform solution is used to give the analytic solutions of heat balance equation.The surface temperature of serval objects in a day are measured,the data show that the solar irradiation,air temperature and relative humidity are the main factors which affect the change of surface temperature.The theoretical fitting results verify the reliability of Laplace method.The errors are generated by the measure system errors and the uncertainty of weather.Secondly,atmosphere transmission is an important factor affecting the infrared target detection.The atmospheric attenuation of infrared radiation is explained from two aspects of absorption and scattering.The calculation principle and working mode of LOWTRAN software are introduced,and an embedded program is written to get the atmospheric transmittance and radiance data quickly and conveniently.The data indicate that the atmospheric component is the main factor,the more content of atmospheric composition,and atmospheric attenuation is more serious.Finally the infrared imaging system performance is analyzed,the work principle,parameters and several evaluation indicators are introduced respectively.The infrared system operating distance is deduced emphatically,the problems in the process of deriving the operating distance by NETD are pointed out,and the distance formula is re-derived from the angle of contrast.A new method is proposed for solving operating distance equation,which improves the calculation efficiency.The operating distance calculation system is established to calculate the distance of ground-based and air-based detection,and the results accord with the practical application of the scene.
