Plasma stealth technology is one of the most popular and widely used stealth technologies in the military,it has the characteristics of large absorption bandwidth and simple realization.By applying a layer of plasma to the surface of the target, the detection of radar can be well avoided. Therefore,in order to eliminate the potential threat of plasma stealth technology and maintain their own security, countries began to scramble to study the anti-plasma stealth technology. It is not only a forward-looking and challenging research subject, but also has great significance in military affairs.Inverse synthetic aperture radar is a common military detection radar with all-weather,long range and high-resolution imaging capabilities. If it cooperates with an efficient imaging algorithm,it can realize the accurate identification of the target, which is one of the most promising research directions in the field of radar imaging.Under the background of urgent needs for a breakthrough in anti-plasma stealth technology, this paper innovatively proposes the use of inverse synthetic aperture radar imaging technology for plasma coating targets and some related research has been carried out.Firstly, this paper makes a summary of the research background and significance of ISAR imaging of plasma coated targets and conducts relevant investigations on the current development and difficulties of the plasma-coated target ISAR imaging.Secondly, the basic electromagnetic characteristics of plasma and the fundamental theory of calculating RCS by physical optics method are introduced, and some relevant formulas are deduced. The RCS of the metal sphere was calculated and analyzed under the condition of no plasma coating and plasma coating, and the influence of plasma parameters on the target RCS was studied. Then, the basic principle of ISAR imaging is described in this paper, and the radar echo simulation and data post-processing methods based on the scattering point model are introduced. At the same time, the two-dimensional ISAR images were obtained by processing the echo data generated under different radar waveforms and target rotation angles, and the imaging quality of each image was analyzed. Finally, the concept of plasma-coated target ISAR imaging was formally expounded.According to the derivation of relevant formulas,an ISAR imaging simulation model for the scattering point of plasma-coated targets was finally established.Based on the established model,ISAR imaging was performed on the scattering point model with the plasma coating, and the influence of radar system parameters and plasma parameters on imaging quality is analyzed and explained.
