Microwave limiter is an important microwave control device which is widely used in electronic confrontation,electronic reconnaissance radar receiving system.It is mainly used to prevent high power signal's potential damage,then to protect the power sensitive devices such as low noise amplifier and mixer not be damaged by high power signal.With the rapid development of electronic countermeasures technology,the traditional small signal microwave components have been unable to meet the needs of high-power system,and the high-power microwave components are being used more and more widely.Therefore,the research of this topic has very important significance.This paper studies the high-power X-band limiter,which uses the semi-active and active limiting circuit form;improves the power capacity of the PIN diodes,and also has the good performance of low insertion loss and low leakage power.This paper mainly discusses the basic theory of PIN diode and microwave limiter design method and typical circuits.The paper firstly analyzes the basic theory of PIN diode,and the microwave characteristics.And then mainly studies the basic working types of microwave limiter.According to development goal,the design methods of the limiter are discussed and analyzed in detail.Through theoretical analysis,by using of ADS,HSFF software,and also combined with integrated circuit technology,this study had finished the circuit design and assembly.The comprehensive performance of the limiter was presented through the electrical and environmental test.The measurement data shows that: working frequency on 8.5~9.5GHz,the insertion loss?1.5dB,input and output VSWR?1.4,power capability: continuous power 100 W,peak power 100W(pulse width 4ms,10% duty),leakage power?13dBm,recovery time?3?s,the circuit size 30mm×25mm×15mm.This limiter module absolutely achieves the goal.
