With the advantage of high beam quality,small volume,high electro-optical conversion rate and long life,Laser Diodes(LD)has been widely used in various fields.At present,the development of infrared and other wavelengths of LD has become increasingly mature,but the lagging development of visible Laser Diodes has hindered the application of Laser Diodes in display field.Also,the development of red,green and blue laser imbalance,and because of color temperature,higher power blue LD for laser display application is needed.Although the solid-state lasers take the lead in the development of laser display,the solid light source itself has disadvantages of low electro-optical conversion rate,large size,lower power,the shortcomings of work instability,making the development of laser display struck.Besides,the slow development,low power,and expensiveness of GaN-based blue laser diodes,has been restricting its application in many fields.Recently,with the power of blue LD continuously improve and its price reduced,high power blue laser diode fiber-coupled devices has become the highlight of research competition around the world.Based on the research status of high-power laser diodes module,this paper study the fiber-coupled methods and build up three high-power fiber-coupled blue laser diodes modules from the perspective of fiber bundling and beam shaping.From the perspective of fiber combination,a non-spherical lens group is used to couple a blue LD single emitter into a single fiber with high fiber-coupled efficiency.And then we take two measures to combine fibers.One is that combining the fibers into a fiber bundle,according to the geometric formula,127 400?m/0.22NA fiber is bundled into a 127-core fiber bundle,getting a 100W level blue laser diode fiber coupled module.the second one is using fused taper 7x1 combiner,by coupling 7 blue LD single emitter beams into 7 200?m/0.22NA fibers of a 7x1 fused taper combiner,we get a 20W high brightness blue diode laser module.Additionally,we study a spatial combination beam shaping method with special arrangement of blue LD single emitters.Two polarization beams obtained by spatial combination of 13 single emitter beams coupled into a 200?m/0.22NA fiber simulated by ZEMAX software.Thus,blue laser beam of 71W can be obtained theoretically with the brightness of 1MW/(cm~2*str)level.Finally,the advantages and disadvantages of the three modules are analyzed and compared,then the future direction of high brightness and high power blue diode laser module is expected.
