The development of self-identity is an important task for college students who are in Emerging Adulthood.At the same time,they are undertaking the great change because of leaving their families to enter the university,which has a significant influence on their self-identity.As the high frequency user of WeChat,college students have taken WeChat as a daily necessity.As the result,the cognitive conflicts encountered in WeChat are not negligible for the development of self-identity of college students.This paper adopts qualitative research study method,using the identity scripts development theory,date collected through the depth interviews of seven college students,summarizes the conflict college students encountered in WeChat,studying the effect of these conflicts on the development of college students' identity scripts.The study finds that WeChat,as a social media for strong relationships,has created a new social scene.While one moved the original conflicts in real life to WeChat,he also created many new conflicts.Among the conflucts,the new conflicts are far more than the original ones.The conflicts encountered in the use of WeChat mainly come from important individuals such as friends,classmates,and family members who have had an impact on the growth of college students in the existing real life.The areas of conflict that college students encounter in WeChat affect the self-identity of college students mainly in the field of interpersonal relations and the philosophy/sense of worth.The level of assimilation is mainly reflected in the refusal of recognition for conflict,which is the most level that occur when college students face the " Circle of Show" in the circle of friends.In the use of WeChat,college students will also actively create conflict scenes to the relevant WeChat friends based on their own scripts,triggering interactions.The level of withdrawal mainly manifests itself in the avoidance of painful experience,which is the individual's passive response to the conflict.The college students are more likely to suffer from the conflict with family during the use of WeChat.At the same time,Individuals will produce passive withdrawal in the use of WeChat due to parental authority.Faced with the conflict with the past self,the script of individual will also withdraw.The level of exploration is the level at which college students develop the most common scripts in the use of WeChat,including the exploration of scenes,scripts,conflict components,and conflicts.Exploration is a reexamination of self,discovery self identity scripts in comparison with others.The original conflictst can lead to exploration of college students' identity scripts more easily.The level of accommodation is the only level in all levels that represents the development of identity scripts and is the development and transcendence of self.There will be a strong emotional experience before reconciliation,and after the occurrence of the same identity script will develop.The level of accommodation of college students in the use of WeChat will mostly occur in the field of human relations,characterized by a critical reflection on the self.The new conflicts are more likely to lead to accommodation of college students' identity scripts.
