Additive and subtractive hybrid manufacturing technology achieves high-quality machining of complex parts on a machine by using additive and subtractive manufacturing alternately,and it is an emerging technology developed by comprehensive utilization of the advantage of additive and subtractive manufacturing technology.Since the shape of machined part is complex and changing dynamically,it is need to make an accurate geometry simulation for whole processing to check the additive and subtractive Computer Numerical Control(CNC)tool path.So a higher requirements for geometric simulation system are put forward to compatible with two manufacturing methods simultaneously.Under this circumstance,a number of related technologies of the Additive and subtractive hybrid manufacturing geometrical simulation are researched in depth,by using the secondary development based on NX.The main content of this paper is as follows:1.Path planning of three-axis additive manufacturing is achieved.based on the platform of NX,three-axis contour offset filling algorithm,Zigzag filling algorithm and regional Zigzag filling algorithm is implemented based on CAD model.2.A geometric model suitable for additive manufacturing geometrical simulation system is established.The additive swept volume is represented by the Tri-Dexel method.Based on swept volume envelope theory,a Tri-Dexel model of the additive swept volume can be constructed rapidly by using the discrete decomposition approach.Additive bool operation of the Tri-Dexel model is implemented to simulate material filling process in additive manufacturing.3.Based on the feature of data structure of Tri-Dexel model and voxel model,a method is proposed to construct triangle facet model from Tri-Dexel model,improving the display ability of simulation results.And the triangle facet model constructed can be used as the stock in the subtractive simulation system on the NX platform.And then the subtractive simulation can be achieved.Based on the research achievements of this paper and the subtractive simulation system on the NX platform,the Additive and subtractive hybrid manufacturing geometrical simulation system was developed,which has been applied to the simulation example of the additive and subtractive hybrid manufacturing of whole impeller,and results show that the research of this paper is feasible and practical.
