In the process of water quality monitoring,the vast amount of water quality data presented in digital form is characterized by both abstraction and complexity.These features make it difficult for staff to monitor and analyze the data intuitively and efficiently.Visualization technology presents abstract water quality data in the form of images,which helps monitor and analyze water quality easily.However,as the amount of data increases,the computational efficiency of the traditional development model cannot meet the basic requirements of computing tasks in a short time.Therefore,the large-scale computing model is needed to improve visualization efficiency.The cloud computing has strong advantages and abilities in the storage,extraction and analysis of mass data.Therefore,the use of cloud computing and visualization technology can help staff to find and analyze the rules hidden in the data efficiently,and provide an efficient and convenient information platform for water quality monitoring.In this paper,Hadoop,the open source programming framework of cloud computing,and HBase are used to store and process the water quality data of Zhuyi River which located in Three Gorges Reservoir.And then visualize the processed data using the method of heat map provided by Google Maps.The main work is as follows:Water quality data are stored and processed in this platform.First,an experimental environment was built after a good understanding of how Hadoop works and how Hadoop is installed.Then,based on the working principle of HBase and the characteristics of the water quality data,the data sheets were designed properly and the water quality data are imported into the HBase database.Finally,the water quality data are read and processed by MapReduce computing framework.After implementing Hadoop-based visualization platform,an experiment was designed to test and analyze the performance.The experiment recorded the data processing time under the traditional development mode and that under the Hadoop environment respectively,and compared them.The experiment shows that the Hadoop programming framework and the HBase database are more efficient than traditional development model.As the amount of data increases,the advantage of Hadoop becomes obvious gradually.Water quality data are visualized in this platform.First,the way of map mashup is used to show data.According to the characteristics of the data,Google Maps API provided by Google Maps was used to present the data in the form of heat map layers on the map.Then,an offline map was built based on the construction principles of Google Map,and water quality data were visualized on the offline map.Visualization technology fully demonstrates the relationship between data and geography,and it has more intuitive and efficient advantages in mining and analyzing information hidden in the data.
