The research on the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the combination target has important theoretical significance and application prospect in the field of target detection,identification and imaging in complex environment,which is a hot issue in the research of radar target characteristics.Based on the high frequency electromagnetic scattering method,the radar scattering characteristics of complex combination targets and coating targets are analyzed.The main work and research results are as follows:1.Based on the approximation theory of physical optics(PO)method,the geometrical optics-physical optics(GOPO)is proposed to estimate the scattering field of the complex combination by introducing the ray tracing idea and applying the Gordon circumference integral.The correctness of the algorithm is verified by the scattering characteristic of the trihedral reflector.On this basis,the Radar Cross Section(RCS)of different complex targets is calculated,and the effects of different incident directions and polarization conditions on the target scattering characteristics are discussed.2.Based on the theory of the target reflection coefficient,the influence of different incident angle,coating thickness and radar frequency on the reflection coefficient is calculated and studied.A new algorithm for calculating the RCS of a complex coating object based on GOPO is implemented for the calculation of the scattering cross section of the complex coated target radar.The algorithm can effectively and accurately calculate the RCS of the complex electrically large coating target.Compared with the traditional method based on the PO algorithm,the algorithm considers the contribution of mutual scattering and improves the accuracy of the algorithm.On the basis of this algorithm,the RCS of a certain type of coating aircraft is calculated,which can effectively reduce the scattering cross section compared with the RCS of the uncoated aircraft.3.The research on the characteristics of the electromagnetic scattering of the coating target and the combination target is carried out.The complex target structure is decomposed and the electromagnetic scattering characteristics after coating material in the different parts of the strong scattering center are analyzed.Take the complex targets of missiles and ships as an example,the effects of radar frequency,coating thickness and coating position on target scattering characteristics were discussed respectively.
