In recent years,with the economic globalization,the network economy is developed rapidly.The wider coverage and the significant increasing number of users and partners have enlarged the business management demand,and put forward more requirements on the transmission rate and efficiency of data communication.As the communication technology is becoming mature,because Optical Packet Switching(OPS)network is flexible and efficient,has higher and transparent data transmission rates,and has the good data model that can be used to support multi granularity,so is considered to be the ideal platform for future IP data service,and as a result,it have been studied deeply.The OPS is a kind of network architectures which is based on packet switching and optical switching technology.Compared with the traditional network,the OPS network is much more efficient in the utilization of network resource,and has strong adoption ability for the burst data applications,therefore is expected to be used to achieve all-optical packet switching.Moreover,the OPS network will replace the electric communication network and will become the most important means of communication.The Visual Private Network(VPN)is a private network that based on the public network.The VPN use the extant infrastructure as its transmission medium,it processes the private data through authentication and encryption,and it builds the special and closed network environment between the notes for the transmission of private information.Based on OPS and VPN,this new generation of OPS network will be one kind of much important network,and therefore will play a important role in the future communications.In this thesis,a kind of optical packet switching and virtual private network is studied.Firstly,the development history and application status of network switching technology are introduced.Then the architecture of OPS network are analyzed and studied.Furthermore,the core technology,the definition,the connotation and implementation method of virtual private network are elaborated.Finally,by using virtual private network and optical packet switching technology as the foundation,one optical packet switching network is built.This OPS network and its node model are analyzed,and a method for a hierarchical label switching virtual private network is designed.Based on the research of VPN,MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switch,MPLS)on VPN and optical packet virtual private network,the basic OPS-VPN network topology is designed.The topology composes of the customer edge devices,network provider edge devices and the provider core network equipments.In the transmission process of OPS-VPN,the packages add the MPLS label,which is the only label,according to node path and channel of information transmission.MPLS will relieve the burden on the forwarding network,and establish safe and reliable connection for optical packet switching network.In our experiments of the thesis,the OPNET software is used to establish OPS-VPN simulation model,to set the link node and the subnet in a node model,and completed the design of OPS-VPN core and edge node simulation,and the parameters are analyzed in the last.In this designed model,the OPS can greatly improve the efficiency of network transmission,and is able to save transmission bandwidth.With the reduction the size of OPS packets,the end to end transmission delay is reduced as well.
