The portable satellite communications earth station has a wide range of applications in earthquake relief,news and other operations.With the increase of its business,the market has a higher demand for the function and availability of the satellite communication earth station.It needs that the portable satellite communication earth station not only can complete the communication function,but also needs the ability to work normally for a specified period of time.Such a capability can be expressed using the availability parameter.This paper analyzes the relationship between availability,reliability and maintainability and its theoretical analysis methods.At the same time,it analyzes the system composition principle of portable satellite communication earth and studies the relationship between the various sub-modules in the system.Availability parameters of each subsystem and the whole system are studied to find out the shortcomings of the system availability that does not meet the requirements.The functional similarity between the sub-modules are analyzed to find out the same functions exists between the sub-modules.The units that has same functions will work when the major unit fails to ensure that the whole system not interrupt.The system can guarantee continuous work,so as to improve the availability.This paper designs a highly available system that fully exploits similar functions between submodules and gives methods make the device recovery after fail.At the same time it uses redundant design technology to improve system availability.The design uses a dual-storage hot-switching technology that put the reserve unit into work by using the exactly the same unit when the major unit fails.Through theoretical argumentation,this high availability system design can effectively improve the system availability and meet the high availability specifications.
