Since the Infiniband technology is put forward,it has been widely developed and applied in high-performance computing and storage area and quickly became the mainstream interconnection technology of supercomputer systems.However,with the incredible rising of cloud computing technology and extensive using of multi-core processors,it has influenced the development of supercomputer system strongly.To mine the enormous potential of supercomputer systems,supporting cloud computing becames an inevitable development trend of supercomputer system.Cloud computing services are usually provided based on Ethernet for Internet users,therefore the interconnection of Infiniband network and Ethernet is the key to realize supporting cloud computing for supercompter systems.What's more,multi-core processors have become the mainstream processors to construct supercomputer systems.As a result,providing a good message parallel processing model,is the important guarantee to take advantage of the superiority performance of multi-core processor and provide high-speed interconnecting between Ethernet and the Infiniband network.The Infiniband network and Ethernet is heterogeneous,which are significantly different in protocol format of data packets,communication address types,transmission mechanism,the way of message handling,and so on.Meanwhile,the widely used of multi-core processors also brings new challengs for the interconnection of Infiniband network and Ethernet.Aimed to solve this problem and challenge,through the analysis of the the existing research of interconnect solutions,this paper proposes a scalable heterogeneous network interconnection model——SHIL,which is baesd on general multi-core processors,and studies the key technologies of SHIL model.The main work and innovation points of this paper include:(1)put forward a scalable heterogeneous network interconnection model——SHIL,which is based on the study of existing heterogeneous network interconnecting method,and can take advantage of the concurrent processing capability of multi-core processors and complete the protocol conversion and packets forwarding tasks among heterogeneous networks useing parallel processing technology by multi-protocol gateway,which can implement interconnection of heterogeneous networks at a lower cost and high-performance,while dynamic way of modular loading makes SHIL model has good scalability and flexibility,and can easily implement the interconnecting with other heterogeneous networks.(2)study the key technologies of SHIL model based on the interconnection of Ethernet and Infiniband network,which include the encapsulation strategy of messages,the management and control of simulation network,the communication address mapping and transformating technology among heterogeneous networks and parallel processing technology.Proposing a simulation network control protocol,two address management mechanism and parallel packet receiving and transmitting mechanism based on multi-core processors,which can optimize the communication performance of heterogeneous networks and improve the protocol conversion efficiency among heterogeneous networks.(3)design and implent EIG gateway prototype system.This paper also sets up a test environment for the interconnection of Infiniband network and Ethernet,which is based on EIG gateway prototype system,in order to test the communication bandwidth and file transfer performance between Ethernet and Infiniband network.Through the analysis of the experimental results,it shows that the interconnection network has higher communication conmunicating bandwidth and better performance of file transferring.In summary,dealling with the problem of parallel processing of interconnection among heterogeneous networks in supercomputer systems,the proposed scalable heterogeneous network interconnection model(SHIL model)can simplify the implementation complexity and improve the protocol conversion efficiency based on transparent encapsulation packet forwarding mechanism,and its virtual interface mechanism can support a variety of network devices and applications,with a good functional reconfigurability and performance scalability characteristics.The research of this article has certain theoretical significance and practical value for parallel processing of interconnection among heterogeneous networks in supercomputer systems.
