Optical attenuator is a kind of passive optical device,which is used to measure the optical fiber system.In the optical communication network system,variable optical attenuator(Variable Optical,Attenuator,VOA)can solve the power matching,channel fading gain,receiver matching problem of VOA has an important and huge commercial value.Shutter type variable optical attenuator is a kind of common VOA,this study found that there is not much literature on the different shape hole light effect on optical field and attenuation properties of a comprehensive study.This paper from the point of view of experimental analysis of different shapes of shutters inside the VOA light field properties,respectively for rectangular,circular and triangular three light light attenuation characteristics to do a comparative analysis.The triangle shutter attenuation regulation performance is more ideal.Then,experimental study on blocking type variable optical attenuator design a light air microfluidic based on VOA,which combines the light attenuation principle and microfluidic optical technology.This paper describes the air shutter microfluidic VOA structure design and working principle,through the FLUENT software simulation analysis on device characteristics.The significance of this research is that the influence of different shape of holes at home and abroad on the lack of light attenuator,the air shutter micro fluidic VOA promoted the application of microfluidic optical technology in optical communication.
