The phenomenon of the "Internet Celebrity" is an inevitable result of the development of the current Internet era,and a unique existence of the development of the Internet information communication in the contemporary era.With the development of Internet consumption,the Internet Celebrity develops from a group with self-expression to a symbol of consumption manipulated by business,targeting from the spread in the virtual world to real interests.It is not difficult for us to see that the Internet Celebrity is no longer simply the funny bits in the Internet for people's entertainment,but has gradually become a kind of social consumer goods and the symbol of consumption for modern people to consume in the Internet.Therefore,the Internet Celebrities begin to be copied mechanically,and eventually develop into a carrier of commercial,branding consumption symbol.This paper starts from the image of the Internet Celebrity as a symbol of the Internet consumption,to comprehensive analyze the phenomenon of the Internet Celebrity from the perspectives of consumerism and semiology.Chapter One of the paper describes the rise of the consumer advocates in the Internet and the cultural characteristics of the Internet consumerism,which paves the way for the following study of the Internet Celebrity;it analyzes the consumerism context for the rise of the Internet Celebrity,further going toward the research on symbolic significance of the Internet Celebrity.Chapter Two sums up the type of consumption symbol of the Internet Celebrity,and accordingly concludes the semiotic significance of the Internet Celebrity.Chapter Three analyzes the spread of symbol of the Internet Celebrity,and analyzes the acceptance psychology of the target audience of the Internet Celebrity on the symbol.Chapter Four is the rational survey on the consumption of symbol of the Internet Celebrity.It analyzes positive impact of the Internet Celebrity on society,the cultural criticism on the consumption of the symbol of the Internet Celebrity as well,and prospects for the future development trend.Finally,the conclusion of the paper calls for deep thought.It puts forward with questions with regard to the entertainment kitsch of current Internet era and impetuous environment of entertainment Carnival: what does the Internet Celebrity reflect on earth? Is the emptiness of the spiritual world or the loss of faith of the mass?...
