Entering the twenty-first century,with the rapid development of science and technology,the emergence of traditional media and new media offers audiences more and more choices.There is a close relationship between the public and the media,which not only is affecting the media development trend,but will also affect the country's political,economic and social problems.From the perspective of Communication Sciences,this paper takes Dich Vong Hau Ward and Quan Hoa Ward of Cau Giay District,and Phuc Tho Town and Loc Tho Town of Phuc Tho District in Hanoi as examples,using quantitative and qualitative research methods.Based on the Vietnamese people and media contact situation,characteristics and influencing factors,the paper explores the people's contact with media including newspapers,radio,television,and internet considering the media type and content,the people's habits and other aspects of similarities and differences.In this paper,SPSS 21.0 statistical analysis software was used to analyze data collected from 283 surveys regarding gender,age,occupation,marital status and educational level of the respondents.The findings are as follows:(1)Television is the most dependent media channel for Vietnamese people.In addition,internet and newspaper still play an important role in providing information,while radio's audiences are the smallest.(2)Television is the most reliable,followed by newspapers,radio,and internet respectively.(3)The male is more inclined to media contact than the female;the older the respondents,the less the demand for contact with the media;office workers and students access the media more than farmers and workers,unmarried people contact with media more than married people,people with high level of education are more likely to access the media than people with low level of education.(4)In the context of the Vietnamese media,people and media contacts have changed.Trends and forecasts are as follows: the increase number of male had the potential trend to the development of Vietnamese media;young people tend to new media;television,newspapers,radio needs to be digital to survive,the media audience gradually turns to network media and new media,the audience and media contact demand is getting higher and higher.
